What happens out in the forest when there are no human disruptions? This.
A remote wildlife camera captured these images of various species visiting a “communications” or “rub” tree in the Alberta wilderness of Kananaskis Country. Animals (clearly bears most of the time) leave their scent on the tree for other animals. The images were taken during May and June 2013 by Alberta Provincial Parks as part of a research project studying wildlife, animal activity and biodiversity. The fun music is by Canadian guitarist Ewan Dobson.
These bears are having so much fun. The Jungle Book taught me that bears scratch on trees, but I guess I didn’t realize that it actually happened like this! Alberta Park’s YouTube channel is a great resource for all nature lovers out there.
