Welcome to Dispatches, your round-up of the latest news from the frontlines of the War on Women. Have a story from your state or an idea on how to push back? Share them here and fight back against the War on Women.
The coordinated attacks on doctors in the Atlanta region who spoke out against controversial abortion measures are apparently working. Doctors are spooked, convinced of the connection and concerned enough to be having second thoughts about speaking out in the future.
No decision yet from the Roberts court on the constitutionality of Obamacare. Should the court strike it down it will immediately cost consumers over $1 billion dollars in savings. That money will instead be kept by the insurance companies who can return to their practice of price gouging.
July 1 is right around the corner and with it the possibility of student loan rates doubling unless Republicans stop screwing around. So yeah, it’s looking grim.
The beauty of this story is in its simplicity: contraception prevents abortion.
After Michigan State Rep. Lisa Brown (D-West Bloomfield) was banned from speaking on the House floor for using the word “vagina”, her colleague State Rep. Wayne Schmidt (R-Traverse City) said the incident was really no different than putting a child in timeout. Except this is an adult. Doing her job. And you silenced her because you disagree with her.
Here is another perfect example of how politicized women’s bodies are in this culture. Instead of trying to accommodate this double mastectomy survivor’s request to swim topless at her pool Seattle city officials told the woman she needed to wear “gender appropriate clothing.”
The Sandusky trial produces yet another tragedy.
The mommy wars usually provide a generous boost to magazine sales, but this is a piece that gets it mostly right for a change. It’s unfortunate that The Atlantic had to go with such a cheap cover, but Anne-Marie Slaughter navigates some tricky terrain masterfully here.
Of all the female pop singers out there, I’ve always had a soft spot for Pink. This picture of her breast feeding and the interview that follows only makes me love her more.
More sweet stuff: this trans man proposed to his girlfriend at the White House Pride reception.
Let’s end it on a really up note: this 14 year-old rocking it for LGBT youth.
Thanks for checking back and don’t forget to send in your stories, suggestions and comments. We’ll be back each weekday with the latest in the best and the worst from the War on Women. So long as the battle rages, we’ll cover the latest, so please check back!

I'm still hanging on to my butterfly credits, hoping that Teresa W's petition is approved. I'd love…
Charlene R, that's why I always look at the back label of paper products in the store. Anything that…
Nothing wrong with adding more bike lanes as there are both bicyclists and drivers of vehicles who don't…

+ add your ownI have heard of agitators trying to create civil war. Wars that governments can use to declare martial law so they can take away citizens' freedoms. Once the martial law, the freedoms are not given back, or severely diminished.
@Dianna, when did I call care3 "crazy"? and noone has been shot or bombed in Georgia, and no OF COURSE I do NOT support any thing that hurts or kills anyone, that is the *precise* point, because care2 does. The language used regarding abortion always cloaks it very carefully and calls it "healthcare" when it is far from it. when a woman's life is at risk is something like 1% of the time.. and may I remind you too that threats on controversial issues occur on both sides. The list on "war on women" also include the ridiculous statement of the michigan sen.Brown inapproproetly saying "Finally Mr. Speaker, Im flattered that youre all so interested in my vagina, but no means no," first off; no, NOONE is interested in her private parts, and her usage of this language in that setting not being appropropriate is NOT a "war on women". Again, Care2 veils the truth when they disagree on the issues, and if you protest ANYTHING of what they say here on these blogs, ppl behave and talk *exactly* like Rush Limbaugh, albeit being on the other side of the fence.
Typos may occur if I'm using my phone, which I don't usually feel urgent enough to use on these boards. My big fingers...
Children, play nice on here...........
Modesty W., first you say, "care2, you are really really loosing it. so everyone who don't agree with you're agenda is a terrorist." Your second posting says, "everytime someone is opposing the view of anything in any article here you get an onslew of ridicule by haters. the hypocrisy is astounding."
I agree about the hypocrisy. Maybe you shouldn't have started by calling "care2" crazy. Thats also a form of ridicule. Since you started the name-calling, compounding it by crying hypocrisy really isnt helping yourself. And youve offered no coherent explanation as to why shooting people, starting fires and setting bombs isnt terrorism. Why do you think that that type of behavior is acceptable, but calling it terrorism isnt? Are you really standing up for people who do these things?
oh God.. I noticed I typed typos again... God forgive me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I mean, care2 bloggers.. plz forgive me.....
@Beth, you are incredibly judgmental. You actually judge ppl's education due to typos on care2 threads? wow. and ulcers and frustrations? you're one of the most negative ppl I've come across on care2, and whenever I drop by to say a line somewhere, there you are to instantly insult me. It's pretty astounding. and then you tell me to go somewhere else..? I've def learned a lot about liberal ppl on care2, and it's not flattering. I am not a reppublican, and a huge animal activist, and environmentalist and I used to think that ppl like Rush Limbaugh only existed on the left. Boy was I wrong. It's *exactly* the same hate and crap here. So, Beth, no, I dont have an ulcer, and my orginal comment on here was directed at care2, because I want them to know someone sees through their crap on articles like this one, but you might have one though, jduging by everything you say. So, check yourself, not me.
Thankyou for the update. The articles at the bottom were sweet, but this war on women is getting out of hand.
Thanks for the update.
Modesty (if that's your real name). If you don't want people to respond to your inane posts, stop making them.
Your grammar marks you as someone who is not well educated, and your opinions support that. Perhaps you should go through the same door as Barbara H. There are sites out there where people do not actually look up facts, and you would be much happier there. You sound frustrated and that can lead to all kinds of health problems, including ulcers.
