Palin Sues Over the Protection of Endangered Beluga Whales

Gov. Sarah Palin announced that Alaska has plans to sue over the increased protection of beluga whales in the Cook Inlet. This all on the heels of trying to keep polar bears off the endangered species list just five months prior.
The current population of beluga whales in the Cook Inlet is a mere 375, down from what used to be thousands. It was listed last year after scientists determined the whale would face extinction in less than 100 years. Only five groups of beluga whales live in U.S. waters off Alaska.
Under the protection of the Endangered Species Act, all federally funded or permitted activities in the Cook Inlet are now subject to review. Though Denby Lloyd, commissioner of the Alaska Department of Fish and Game, says the population is stable and beginning to recover.
Um, can we get someone NOT from Alaska to decide this?
The Cook Inlet which hosts the city of Anchorage is also a mature oil-producing basin - shocking! Which is why Palin opposes the listing. It will greatly impact oil and gas developments from expanding into the Anchorage port.
"This listing decision didn't take those efforts into account as required by law," Palin said.
But this isn't the first time Palin has put Big Oil before the environment, and it won't be the last. "Gov. Palin seems more than willing to sacrifice endangered whales on the altar of oil companies," said Brendan Cummings, director of The Center for Biological Diversity.

Sarah Palin is the dumbest person.What if somebody wanted to kill her family or her.I don't think she would like that.Maybe we don't know about something.Something bad nust've happened to her.Helpless animals.I'm glad she's not in office anymore.People like her is just so pitiful.I think she does stupid things to get attention.I don't see why she has a problem with other beings.She should've been getting crunk with Katie Couric.She got what she sowed.No matter how smart she pretends to be.

The beluga whale was here long before Palin, her parents, her grandparents & all the way back to the stone age. So, where does this air head of a woman come off challenging the rights of these beatiful creatures to live a life free of her & her kind.

You are right Karen. If she can`t take care of her own what right does she have sticking her nose where it doesn`t belong? Wildlife was put here for a reason not for her and her buddies sport. I have talked to few people in Alaska and they are not a bit happy with this sport hunting of wolves from planes. It used to be done by FWC but people turned it into sport hunting and bets on who could shoot the most wolves and I think it is disgraceful for people like her and others like her to do that. She cost McCain the presidency by showing what a complete idiot she is.

This old gal is totally against wildlife so that makes her a complete idiot to me. As Sandra said nature will take care of its own and doesn`t need any help from morons like her. They are so stupid in Alaska that they don`t don`t stop and think wolves are needed to get rid of the sick and old animals that can`t take care of themselves any more. I really wonder how she and her sports hunters would feel if they were being chased down by airplanes with wildlife flying them until they were exhausted and they attacked them just like they do the animals...I think that would be appropriate for them. Maybe their attitudes would change then. It is what they deserve.

I agree with Eli. What is really awful though, is that Palin is going to run for President in 2012. Do you know that most people do not know how cruel Palin is. I tell people what she does to wildlife and almost everyone I have told had no idea she is so barbaric and money hungry. The thought of her being a presidential candidate in 4 years sickens me, and I am a conservative Rep.

Sarah Palin, BP, Exon-Mobil and Shell are the ones destroying the last remaining pristine sanctuaries of wildlife. With their BILLIONS of dollar profits they can afford to spend millions advertising themselves as being green.
BP is a classic example of a once green company that is actually gray because of its avaricious need for bigger and bigger profits.
