Historic Climate Change Legislation Passed by the US House of Representatives
posted by: Joe Baker 174 days ago

Today, the US House of Representatives passed comprehensive climate change legislation, the American Clean Energy and Security Act. The vote was close: 219 for and 212 against. Eight Republicans voted yes and 44 Democrats voted no.
The Democratic House Leadership and the White House have spent the last several days lobbying wavering Representatives and making compromises. In joint campaigns with environmental groups and unions, Care2 members have sent hundreds of thousands of messages to their legislators calling for them to pass strong climate change legislation. This is a great victory.
One of the bill's sponsors, Rep. Ed Markey of Massachusetts, said it is "the most important energy and environmental legislation in the history of our country. It sets a new course for our country, one that steers us away from foreign oil and towards a path of clean American energy."
The fight is not over. The Senate will now take up climate change legislation, and the battle there may be even tougher.
What difference do you think this legislation will make in your life? In your children's lives?

"This legislation is a good start; now if we can reduce the human population of the world back to the level it was in 1950; most of our problems will go away. "
This is exactly what this legislation is about, satisfying people like you. What population you would like to eliminate? Can it be similar to the Nazi list to include the mentally retarded, the blacks and the jews? That is eugenics.
Did any of you see Justice Ruth's comments on abortion? "Frankly I had thought that at the time Roe was decided, there was concern about population growth and particularly growth in populations that we dont want to have too many of. So that Roe was going to be then set up for Medicaid funding for abortion." She was right you know, that is the objective behind Planned Parenthood's founder. And yet this has been completely ignored by the main stream media.

Know what the 8th coldest year on record is? According the National Weather Service, 8th place is actually a tie between ..... 1987, and 2009!
Ever notice that the global warming alarmists never want to discuss solar activity?
"Since the late 1970s, the amount of solar radiation the sun emits, during times of quiet sunspot activity, has increased by nearly .05 percent per decade, according to a NASA funded study."
How do you suppose cap and trade will effect solar output?
While 'scientists' have been busy warning of the rising global temperature, they were mysteriously quiet about corresponding rises on all the planets in the solar system.
The Polar Bear population has INCREASED by 50% in the last 50 years. Why are they on the endangered species list????
Wake up people! This legislation is not about climate.

The government is here to serve us and we select the govt. We, us, and not a dictator. We rather have the govt that is selected by us than the business world decide our fate. So it is up to us to get informed, educated, change and think in terms of community so we can vote in more Responsible Environmental representatives.

I still havent heard of anyone reading the WHOLE BILL....and I still do not understand why no one thinks that it is important that our elected officials are not reading something so important. If the energy czar did not read the whole thing OR any of our elected officals..OR any of the media who are reporting it...who wrote it and what is in it? Anyone...Anyone.....Anyone out there? What is everyone arguing about if you dont really know whats in it?

I have read several articles on Global Warming. Some put out by professors of Geology. One in particular, had studied Global Warming for yrs. and He says Al Gore, is a hot-airbag. nothing more. He says Al Gore's claims are all a hoax that He has disigned to dupe the American people into wanting this Carbon tax. I tend to agree with him.

Cap & Tax was hurried through the House. It's doubtful that any House member had the opportunity to read the bill in its entirety. Hence, is it ethical or responsible to vote for such a massive piece of legislation just to stay on the Speaker's self-imposed schedule? I asked my Congressman why he voted for the bill (his district is 90% opposed to it) and if he had read the bill before voting. He had not read the full bill. He said the bill is flawed but there was not an alternative piece of legislation for which he could vote.
At what point will we, the voters, decide that government is too big, too intrusive, and no longer watching our backs?

The "people" gets the blame for whatever they think is happening to the earth but have "they" ever considered that maybe all the space shuttles sent up into space and all the garbage floating around in space might not be any good for the planet?

Be very careful what you wish for because you just might not want it once you're stuck with it.
