Frederick Malek III is a Republican brahmin, and he was the National Finance Co-Chair of John McCain’s Presidential campaign.
In 1959, a police officer in Peoria, Illinois, discovered five young men acting suspiciously — they and the inside of their car were covered in blood, and three of them appeared to be burying something. Officers then discovered a skinned dog on a spit elsewhere in the park; its insides had been removed.
Eventually, 22-year-old Malek and his buddies admitted that they’d been drinking earlier that night, and one of the group admitted to beating, killing and preparing the dog for the spit — claiming that he was trying to show Malek and the others ‘something about living off the land.’ Malek swore he had nothing to do with the dog murder. He just stood around while his friend beat a dog to death.
Working for Richard Nixon, Malek’s job was to spot Jews for the President in the Bureau of Labor Statistics. In 2004, both Malek and his company were fined by the Securities and Exchange Commission for corrupt behaviour.
Romney famously mistreated his dog Seamus so cruelly that he has been listed in two national animal abuse databases.
The Romneys have claimed that Seamus was given away to Romney’s sister and lived out the last of his days on a lovely farm. However, in January, it was claimed that the dog ran off in Canada after spending twelve hours on the roof of the Romney station wagon.
Brad Bannon, spokesman of the Super PAC Mitt is Mean, said:
I am surprised Gov. Romney is going to go to this fundraiser and get money from a guy who barbecued a dog, especially with Mitt Romney’s history with dogs. I was shocked and horrified. It illustrates Romney’s general indifference to people and to animals. He doesn’t care about poor people, he doesn’t care about his dog, he doesn’t care about what Fred Malek does to dogs, he is the classic cold blooded corporate raider. He just doesn’t care.
