Head Stomping Paul Supporter Pleas Out, Still Says He’s Not Guilty
Tim Profitt, the man who was caught on video stomping on the head of MoveOn activist Lauren Valle, has accepted a plea bargain, and will be serving probation as well as paying Valle’s medical bills. However, the former campaign worker still states that he is not guilty.
Tim Profitt, 53, a former campaign worker for Paul, agreed to serve probation and pay the medical expenses of the MoveOn.org activist, Lauren Valle, but did not admit guilt in the Oct. 25 melee in Lexington during the 2010 midterm election campaign.
As part of the plea deal, Profitt acknowledged that prosecutors had enough evidence to convict him. He will spend a year on unsupervised probation will pay $600 to cover Valle’s medical bills.
Profitt previously had pleaded not guilty to misdemeanor assault charges. In November last year, Profitt’s attorney said the former Bourbon County coordinator for Paul’s campaign was “doing what he thought was necessary.”
Profitt had earlier tried to have the charges dismissed by saying he believed Valle was attempting to harm the candidate when she showed up with a giant novelty check in her arms at the debate.
