In September of 2007, in Montgomery, Ala., a pit bull named Louis Vuitton was beaten with a shovel, doused with lighter fluid, then set on fire.
Why? Because the then 20-year-old son of Louis’ owner got angry when denied permission to drive the family car.
The Injuries
Louis Vuitton was beaten so badly, his left upper canine tooth was broken and had to be removed. That paled in comparison to the severe burns he sustained over 60 percent of his young body.
Louis’ Spirit
Through it all, Louis Vuitton — a pit bull with a magnificent and forgiving attitude toward humans — persevered. Even through the painful skin grafts and bandaging routines, he gave kisses and never complained.
The Abuser’s Punishment
Animal cruelty so often goes unpunished or under-punished. That’s why when Louis Vuitton’s abuser, Juan Daniels, plead guilty and was sentenced to nine years and six months for his crime, it was a victory for voiceless animal abuse victims everywhere. It was the harshest sentence ever given in the State of Alabama for felony animal abuse.
The problem is, after serving only 18 months of his sentence, Daniels is eligible for parole.
What You Can Do to Help
Daniels’ parole hearing is scheduled for August 24. Please sign the Care2 petition addressed to the Alabama Board of Pardons and Paroles, joining the more than 1,000 people who signed the petition in its first day online.
For those who want to do even more to ensure Daniels is not released early, consider writing to The Alabama Board of Pardons and Paroles.

Happy Ending for Louis
The good news is Louis Vuitton has been adopted by his foster parents, William and Dee Hartley of Montgomery, the couple who nursed him through his medical nightmare.
Enjoy the video of Louis Vuitton, 14 months after his horrific ordeal. Life with his new family is inspiring!

Hi Diane (and Jane too) I am going to have to disagree with you there, not the movement itself as…
Princesses are just part of larger issues.

I hope this bastard gets what he deserves in jail and if not, ON THE STREET. SICK MONSTER.
SOMEBODY PLEASE FIX THE QUICK POLL!
HIGHEST SENTENCES FOR ALL ANIMAL ABUSERS!!!
NO!!!!!!!!! Abus Animals
OK... tried to sign the petition but it wouldn't take... gonna keep trying and hope others will, as well!
Animals are such forgiving souls & even Louie.. in spite of all the pain & suffering he endured. I am so glad to hear he found a good, loving home & hope his torturer gets exactly what's he deserves & a million times worse. Infuriating that people take out their frustrations on defenseless animals. Louie was severely torturted because a spoiled brat wasn't allowed to borrow the car?? Seriously????? And he wants to be released into society to abuse again when he doesn't get his way??? I'll gladly sign the petition.
Let him be in jail for a long, long time
and pay a heavy fine
What kind of a disgusting creature is Juan Daniels? I'm at a loss for words when it comes to describe how I feel about such people. Anyone who tortures an animal like Louis Vuitton is a coward, because they can't fight back. They only know how to love and wag their tails.
Poor baby. I agree with Dee, what happened to an 'eye for an eye.'
What happened to 'Eye for an Eye'??? I think someone should take him out back and show him what it felt like... this story really breaks my heart and jerks like this do not deserve to be here.
