Members of the LGBT Equality Caucus have recorded an It Gets Better video that aims to deliver a message of hope to LGBT teens that they can achieve their dreams.
Featuring the Equality Caucus co-chairs Rep. Barney Frank (D-Mass.), Rep. Tammy Baldwin (D-Wis.), Rep. Jared Polis (D-Colo.), and Rep. David Cicilline (D-R.I.), the video sees each lawmaker talk about their experiences as out members of Congress and how they overcame fear of prejudice and harassment to achieve their goals.
While it is a marked shame that the video gives little attention to bisexual identity, the spirit of the video carries a hopeful message:
The LGBT Equality Caucus’ mission is to “promote lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) equality. The bi-partisan LGBT Equality Caucus will be comprised of Members of Congress who are strongly committed to achieving the full enjoyment of human rights for LGBT people in the U.S. and around the world. By serving as a resource for Members of Congress, their staff, and the public on LGBT issues, the Caucus will work toward the extension of equal rights, the repeal of discriminatory laws, the elimination of hate-motivated violence, and the improved health and well being for all regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity/expression.”
