Things just do not look good for former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney. First Rep. Ron Paul’s campaign raised $4.5 million in January which sounds more impressive when placed next to the $6.5 million raised by Romney’s campaign. Contrast that with the $14 million the pro-Romney Super PAC spent in January and the fact that not only will Romney likely lose Michigan, he’s losing ground to former Pennsylvania Senator Rick Santorum in Arizona.
Meanwhile Santorum spent most of the day explaining away a series of comments made over the weekend, including a reference to President Obama’s “radical Islamic policies” and another where he compared the President to Hitler. Oh, and there were those statements about getting rid of public education and aborting disabled babies.
With Santorum receiving this much attention and everyone continuing to ignore former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich, Wednesday’s debate could be epic.
Oh and in case you were curious, Democrats raised even more money than the Republicans this last quarter proving 2012 is going to be an ugly, ugly election.
Gov. Scott Walker (R-WI) has cost David Koch a lot of money but the billionaire financier of Americans for Prosperity plans to spend whatever it takes to keep him in office. Is there any remaining question as to whose interests Walker’s policies serve?
Let’s leave with this: imagine what we could do if the money poured into this election was diverted into something productive like funding schools, reinforcing infrastructure, or investing in jobs. Imagine the possibilities.

+ add your ownEugene W. What story were YOU reading, I haven't seen anything of the sort. I have been reading stories about whether companies will include birth control in it's insurance policy and whether medicare or medicaid will pay for it as well. I guess you musta missed those stories. The only involvement the Catholic "organizations" have is whether the leaders of these companies can be swayed by the Catholic church.
Women's rights supersedes a church's rights in all cases. Especially women's health care needs, and the insurance to cover the costs. Churchmen can preach whatever they want from the pulpit. They don't belong in the State's business.
I have heard Santorum say that women should not use contraception because it is against his churches teaching. He feels so strongly about this he would ban it if the chance arose. Santorum has spoken in speeches for years over and over again, not in debates just on his own about women's rights, anti-choice, no b.c., no military, no working outside the home. . He is a very right wing religious conservative. He is to radical to be the President.
Sharon: Obama and his followers like Jessica have duped you into thinking the Republicans intend to eliminate birth control. What's at issue is whether Catholic organizations should have to pay for birth control. I'm shocked and amazed to see how well Obama's propaganda plan has worked out. Last night CNN's moderator brought up birth control at the Republican debate and was thoroughly booed by the audience. He knew he would get booed for this silliness, but he was under orders, just like George Stephanopolous when he brought up birth control on hypothetical basis a few weeks ago.
So why does Obama do this? He has failed at practically everything, as even Saturday Night Live has pointed out. He needs an issue. Also, he needs to distract attention from his inability to present a budget to the Senate. How can this country go three years without a budget? Because the DEMOCRATS reject Obama's budgets.Last year the Senate voted against the Obama budget 97-0. This year, rather than repeat last year's embarrassment, they refuse to vote on the new one.
Don't expect the gossipy Jessica to bring up that subject. It's not in her job description.
Why doesn't Romney just bring over a few million in his off-shore Cayman Island account he keeps so he doesn't have to pay US taxes?
If he can't manage his finances any better, then how does he expect the manage the whole country's finances?
He is running out of lies!
Dylan, Glad you can still stomach trying to talk sense to Eugene. I gave up on debating a blockhead awhile back. I had to answer Louise one last time as her blog was so disturbing. Her mind is so muddled, she doesn't know what she is talking about or how to say it coherently.
The Republican party has turned into something that normal R's from the past would not recognize. Dwight Eisenhower must be crying. It gets worse every day. Really?? Girl Scouts, no birth control as it causes you to have sex, no military for women, no abortion rights, church men will determine what is best or worse for women, Darryl Issa investigating women's issue's, Obama's birth certificate, moon colony, channeling Kenya woovoodoo Lion King roaring argghhhggshi, sharia law, Muslim, Citizens United, so much more, and so many tea party radical candidates.
For the sake of the Country. Vote for Democrats.
This just makes me wish Charlie Sheen would run.
Careful Jan, we still have the Supreme Court! If the GOP contender crys foul, the Supreme Court will appoint him psycho-in-chief the way they did George Bush!
...and we can only hope mittens has run out of money!!
Thank you.
