Our Neighborhood Has A Lot To Say To Mitt Romney

When we heard that Mitt Romney was going to be having a fundraising event a mere two minute walk from our Silicon Valley office, we couldn’t resist popping out for a look. And what did we find?

Protesters!

There were multiple groups protesting multiple issues. Activists from Occupy Redwood City were present, dressed as billionaires for the occasion. The above photo shows Phillip Thomas Rich (Phil T. Rich). He told us about a recent success for the Occupy Redwood City movement. With the support of Occupy activists, Gloria Takla, a local resident was finally able to get a loan modification with Chase Bank. Occupy Redwood City will continue to work with the many local citizens who are struggling to keep their homes.

Take a look at some of the dedicated activists protesting Romney’s speech at the Sofitel Hotel in Redwood City.

"Hey hey, ho ho, keep all the money for the CEO!"

Barbara Baxter-Berman (r) and Ruth Robertson (l), Palo Alto members of the Raging Grannies, pop champagne.

This protester was asking for signatures for a California ballot measure that would bring transparency to all political funders.

An allegiance of DREAM Act supporters showed up to tell Romney the only way to get the Latino vote is to consider serious immigration reform. Romney’s current stance on immigration involves continuing to beef up border security to keep out ‘illegal aliens.’ However, the majority of Californians support a path to legalization for undocumented immigrants, and if Romney wants to appeal to this voting bloc, he should rethink his current policies.

The Etch-a-Sketch says it all.

Our choices this election will be Romney the lying billionaire or Obama the lying dictator. Check out the bills congress has passed and he has signed, wiping away the constitution and the bill of rights. If this country wants a chance throw out all the politicians, think outside the box and find a third party worth voting for.

Seems to me this election will be one big grabass farce. The GOP has clowns going for each others throats with pinking shears. The Dems have their 1st term disappointment going for them. Perhaps in his next term he'll be able to show some spine, kick some cajones, and do something for The People and not the Banks.

ANY MAN THAT PUTS HIS DOG IN A CRATE, ON A 12 HR. DRIVE, WHILE DIARREHEA RAN DOWN THE SIDES OF THE CAR, WILL NEVER REPRESENT ME. ALSO, GETTING RID OF PLANNED PARENTHOOD, WILL RESULT IN MANY FOLKS NOT ABLE TO GET THE HELP THEY NEED. BOTH ISSUES TOUCH ME DEEPLY.

Mr. Romney:

How do you have the nerve to run for President of our country when you have a history of not supporting it? You don't deserve to be President! You should be ashamed! When you ran Bane Capital you outsourced jobs and cheated people out of their pensions and shut down companies. Some of the people who lost their jobs and pensions have never worked again! Then you dodged paying taxes by having off-shore accounts!!! HOW DO YOU HAVE THE NERVE TO RUN FOR PRESIDENT WHEN YOU'VE NEVER SUPPORTED OUR COUNTRY or contributed to it in ANY WAY!? And you have the audacity to criticize President Obama!

Maybe I'm just dense, but several respondents refer to "Joseph", and I've looked back over this whole article, and I can't find anybody identified as Joseph. If you have a moment, could you inform me? The response just above my comment says, "What's the matter Joseph? Did it get cold under your bridge?" I wish I knew who you're referring to. Thanks.

What I see when I look at Mitt's body language..facial expressions..etc is someone that doesn't give a shit about anyone but himself. He reminds me of a used car salesman! Mind you..I'm from Canada and we have our own problems up here with Harper. Another egotistical maniac!

Joseph, we are a nation of takers. The wealthy take from the rest of us. This has been achieved by deregulation, undermining unions, destroying education, lack of oversight, and corporate welfare on an huge scale. You complain about the price of gas; what about the gas and oil subsidies (corporate welfare) that the government pays out to the corporations with record profits? Where is your outrage about that?
