Prairie Dogs Saved from Poisoning (VIDEO)

Prairie Dogs Saved from Poisoning (VIDEO)

Prior to the poisoning of privately owned grasslands in Wyoming, the Prairie Dog Coalition — organized by The Humane Society of the United States – laid over 500 traps to safely capture the prairie dogs inhabiting the land. The prairie dogs, some entire families, were then moved to the Thunder Basin National Grassland where they all received restored burrows.

This is the first time such a relocation has been carried out. And the venture was a success thanks to the combined efforts of government agencies and private animal welfare organizations.

Thank you for this! Prairie dogs are so adorable. My family stayed a year in North and South Dakota while my dad had to work there, and we used to watch the prairie dogs for hours. They are so cute

Great example of what can be accomplished when working together ... all groups represented, all groups satisfied. How rare indeed.

Who would want to kill these little critters, they are so cute. I'm glad the transfer of them to non-poisened land went so successfully & all the various groups involved cooperated with one another to accomplish their goal & this is one story that has a happy ending.
