President Obama Overturns Global Gag Rule!

President Obama Overturns Global Gag Rule!

Great news! President Barack Obama issued an executive order today that repealed the Global Gag Rule.

The Global Gag Rule prohibited family-planning programs in other nations from receiving US aid if the programs included abortion counseling and referrals — programs that could substantially help couples plan their families and avoid unintended pregnancy.

The rule was instituted by President Reagan, repealed by President Clinton, and was reinstituted by President George W. Bush.

All in all, over 23 thousand people signed petition letters via Care2 on behalf of eliminating the Global Gag Rule. Please take a moment now to send a note of thanks to President Obama for his actions.

It’s been a long hard road for many dedicated and caring people
, but today I am tickled pink to say (on behalf of women around the world), “Yes, we did!

We cannot ignore the world's every increasing population and the strains that puts on individuals in their own families,
communities and countries in the developing world to provide the necessary staples for life, and a quality of life that all human beings should be assured of. This is why family planning is so important to the health of people and to the viability of our species. It is irresponsiblet o turn our back on this serious reality that our planet can only sustain so many people, and that people can only have a chance at a better quality of life if there is a way for them to plan on a reasonable number of children whom they can adequately take care of.

Bethany these people live in destitute poverty and are raped and beaten daily! Have some compassion and don't be so selfish!

President Obama is headed in the right direction toward global economic equality. Family planning (aka as birth control) will allow sub-Saharan African women the opportunity to stop giving birth to infants who die within the first year of their lives from starvation. Yes We Can!!!

We're billions of dollars in debt and we're going to use American money to pay for something overseas that at least half of America finds morally devastating? How does this make sense at all?

This is fantastic! Let's us hope that this move is just the first in a string of others to improve the reproductive lives of women around the world!
