Rhinos Threatened by Floods (VIDEO)

We’ve seen a lot about people threatened by floods in Pakistan and India. But what about animals?

This video shows scenes from the Pabitora Sanctuary in Assam, which has the highest density of one-horned rhinos in the world. Rising flood waters have caused the animals to move to high ground outside the sanctuary, where they run the risk of being shot by poachers.

In the last decade, 50 rhinos have lost their lives to poachers. The authorities are doing what they can to protect these rare animals until they can return to their homes.

once again, it's demand and supply. poachers are there due to demand .. I really dislike humans .. sorry fellow humans in Care2, but I think I'm born an animal but stuck in a human body, as I dislike humans big time for hurting the earth and the animals.

We call ourselfs the superior being on this planet .. laughable. How many animals attack and kill us for our valuable assets??? Who is the real superior beings then?

I detest and abhor poachers -- they seem to be all over the place killing whatever brings money, no matter what! Really despicable people -- i wish we could all round them up and .... just to keep them away from ALL animals.

Where are the appropriate government departments and allied organizations associated with animal/wildlife welfare to take on a problem like this? Has this sort of thing never happened before , in countries that are subject to natural disasters such as floods? When there is some sort of human drama, all kinds of emergency assistance comes forward -but with animals, it seems to be a case of - "ah, what the hell" ???!

We must do everything for these helpless creatures. It's not a matter of should we help people or animals - everything possible must be done and there must be those who are willing to assist the animals.
