Sandy Hook Elementary School Shooting: Leave Your Thoughts Here

If you are like me, you are probably having trouble concentrating today. When 28 people have been massacred, the majority of them between the ages of 5 and 10, everything else seems trivial.

There is so much happening today, it’s a little hard to keep up. Besides the details of the shooting itself, which continue to unfold, here are a few reactions to this tragic event:

–People on the left called for more gun control.

–People on the right yelled at the left for trying to take away their guns.

Mike Huckabee and Brian Fischer both said the whole thing would never have happened if we only talked about God more in schools.

–Barack Obama teared up while addressing the nation, saying, “they had their entire lives ahead of them — birthdays, graduations, weddings, kids of their own.”

What are your own thoughts? Please share them in the comments section and check out these Care2 articles for further analysis:

I've heard the most obscene thing about this now-"truthers" are saying this didn't happen it was all manufactured so Obama could pass tighter gun legisalation. The 2nd ammendment protection the NRA members seek? Let's see trust my fate in democratically elected gov't-no matter the political stripe or a group with this kind of record BTW do we want trains not to run on time because that facist Mussolini made that a priority.?

The militia movement is a political movement of paramilitary groups in the United States. Members of the movement typically refer to themselves as militia, "unorganized militia",[1] and "constitutional militia".[2] While groups such as the Posse Comitatus existed as early as the 1980s,[3] the movement gained momentum after controversial standoffs with government agents in the early nineties, and by the mid-nineties, groups were active in all 50 states with membership estimated at between 20,000 and 60,000.[4] Although in unconnected groups, they may be united in their beliefs of the federal government's threat to their freedom, and in particular the movement's opposition to any limit of the Second Amendment right to bear arms.

why don't you put the blame where it belongs, start with the athiests who got the bible out of schools, then the special interest groups who brought in teaching that you can do what you want and it is o k, after 3 generations of lack of moralistic values, you see what we get, christians warned you back in the 60's and 70's that it would get like this, now we have it and it will get worse

Every single time we have one of these incidences we get all riled up and we demand gun regulations and we question the intent of the 2nd amendment, then something else happens and we go back to sleep. This time I hope we persevere to get legislation passed to take high powered rifles off of our streets. The NRA in my opinion is an unconscionable party to the bloodshed and they are totally motivated to lobby for gun manufacturers. The NRA defends their position under the 2nd amendment umbrella, we need to let them know that our first amendment, THE RIGHT TO LIFE, covers a lot more of us and that it supersedes the 2nd.
