Dr C - yes, the scumbag could have strapped on a vest rigged with explosives, but then the bastard didn't intend to kill himself. Guns have the ability to rapidly repeat fire and they kill from a distance. Any argument can be made by gun totin lovers, but the fact of the matter is, the vast majority of violent deaths in this country are caused by guns. So it doesn't matter about the coulda scenario, because his rigged bomb at the apartment building was discovered before their was more carnage because of this devil.
Guns are the #1 weapons killer in this country and the violence in this country caused by guns is far greater than any industrialized nation. You can put out are the potentials you wish, but it doesn't counter FACT!

One can only hope that this affects gun laws. I have a feeling that it's not going to have much impact though

11:27PM PDT on Jul 26, 2012

The impact will be people going overboard attempting to ban everything from a water pistol to an assault rifle.

Make no mistake about it, conditions do not appear by accident. Take for example the conditions created for people to lose their homes, or the conditions needed for slavery, or the conditions needed for the hologaust.

There exist an intelligence in society and the world that constantly has its hands no the levers of control to try and keep what they want in check or to continue.

Some ot the levers used are the media, money, and politics. Do you believe these massacre's are out of the control of our government?

If so, why are there never any massacre's at a presidental ball or a meeting of the house of repreesentative?

@Lee W. [If cameras at traffic lights can monitor drivers running red lights, for heavens sake, we should have in place some sense of mandates on guns.]

While as far as can be seen there is no constitutional basis for prohibiting red light cameras,
there is an explicit constitutional prohibition against infringing on the people's right to keep and bare arms.

It's also been made abundantly clear that no guns would have been needed by this individual to have killed dozens or more people in the theater that night.

Given the motivation hundreds of thousands of people can be killed with even gardening implements. All that is going to happen if one bans one type of tool as that those same people will select another.

Repairing the defects in the treatment of society that deny justice, the general welfare and an equitable existence are the only true means of addressing the motivation to to commit these types of acts.

Outlawing guns may reduce gun violence , but it won't reduce violence, one will just see a different selection of tool used to advance the violence. DEAD is DEAD.

My heart and prayers to the families and wounded people!!! I am still asking myself how a man like that could afford to get that amount of arms and amounition, is incredible!!! Why normal people would need an automatic gun? I don't understand much the fascination with guns, and I respect the people who likes them and are responsible enough to manage them, but it ishorrible some crazy people is able to get enough arms to kill a bunch of people so easily, we are in trouble if each day is easier to get powerful arms from internet or the local stores, I am afraid in a short time any one can be killed because some crazy ill decides to go in a crowdy place and do it!! Simple as that. Poor world we are in where people can kill others just because they want it, porr world where kids can rape and brag of it and only get a wrist lap, we are in trouble.
