Tennessee: Feet Washing and Islamic Prayer Are “Treasonous”

In a sign that the fear of “sharia law” has become utterly ridiculous, a new bill in Tennessee will make any Islamic ritual a jailable offense.

A proposed Tennessee law would make following the Islamic code known as Shariah law a felony, punishable by 15 years in jail.

A bill introduced by Tennessee state Sen. Bill Ketron, pictured, and Rep. Judd Matheny calls Islamic code a danger to U.S. security.

State Sen. Bill Ketron, R-Murfreesboro, and state Rep. Judd Matheny, R-Tullahoma, introduced the same bill in the Senate and House last week. It calls Shariah law a danger to homeland security and gives the attorney general authority to investigate complaints and decide who’s practicing it.

It exempts peaceful practice of Islam but labels any adherence to Shariah law — which includes religious practices such as feet washing and prayers — as treasonous. It claims Shariah adherents want to replace the Constitution with their religious law.

A dozen other states are considering anti-Shariah bills, and there’s a federal lawsuit in Oklahoma over one.

Imam Mohamed Ahmed of the Islamic Center of Nashville on 12th Avenue South said Islam teaches its followers to obey the law of the land. Shariah law, he said, teaches moral values.

“What do you mean, really, by saying I can’t abide by Shariah law?” he said. “Shariah law is telling me don’t steal. Do you want me to steal and rob a bank?”

Ketron is from Murfreesboro, the site of the mosque that has been plagued with vandalism and arson, and where opponents to the mosque claimed the Islamic faith wasn’t a “real religion.”

This woman, ROBIN M, is shady..... She deliberately deceives and manipulates you for who knows what reasons or what benefits. She would like you to be outraged about the foot washing, prayers, or rituals in islam even when no one really cares what others do in their rituals.... She would like you to stay away from the simple and straight fact that islam wants the government and that is the main reason why people, internationally, hates and despise and fight islam. Islam is a cancerous disease on any society with rules based on the 7th century. Islam must, must, must modify the society's fabric on Allah's command.

It is not important if people, muslims or non-muslims, oppose islamic domination. It is not important if the majority of muslims are moderate in their views. They are not the ones deciding and they cannot fight against the islamic rule. It's sinfull to do so....

When you accuse them of being innert it's not because they don't care but because they can't do anything about. Islam is not fundamentalist or moderate, like people are. Islam is one.

Sandra , your comments are not correct even if you want them to be. Islam is pure bigotry in respect to non-muslims and women. The bigotry is, of course, rationalized. Allah will not accept any other religion but islam. Women are enslaved .... for their own good. It's just not called Slavery but Guardianship.

Islam rejected the Universal Declaration of Human Rights for , guess what, they are not islamic.

You know something Robin B. I actually agree with you on something. It's not easy living in a Muslim country, but not for the reasons you would like to come across as so convincing to all.
Not because Islam has oppressive rules, not because women in Islam are not elevated to the level they deserve, not because Islam does not allow freedom of speech, not because Islam does not stand for democracy.

Now here is the shocker, for you and others who share your set of mindframe. ISLAM PROMOTES and encourages the opposite of what you read above.

It desires a dignified, happy society, with good moral values; a society that is respectful and supportive of one another, regardless of race, color, or religion, and in particular demands respect and kindness for elderly persons, as well as women and children.

Islam encourages, and in fact it’s very principles are based on democracy. Islam DESPISES oppression, injustice, humans terrorizing other humans or animals.

I do live in the Middle East, I am a European, yes a Muslim, but there are many Non Muslim Europeans and other nationalities as well, and they would agree it's not always easy, however none of this reflects on the teachings of Islam. It reflects upon greedy narcissistic rulers who by corruption gained power and wealth and have allowed themselves to become oppressive, unjust, self centered human beings, hiding their evil behind a religion that actually condemns them for that.
I know my words are not as eloquent as Scotts, but it doesn’t matter. Truth can be stated in a very simple form, which is mine.

You have nothing to fear from Islam and plenty to be concerned about from those who initiated this hate campaign against us.

Education is the cure when misinformation and lack of information is frightening you.

Rather than repeat ideal previous posts, I direct you to a brief but encompassing explanation of ‘the road to the watering place’ (shariah) on this thread by Mary P.

From that post Feb 28, 2011 12:46 PM; here are the six principles of shariah:

1. The right to the protection of life.
2. The right to the protection of family.
3. The right to the protection of education.
4. The right to the protection of religion.
5. The right to the protection of property (access to resources).
6. The right to the protection of human dignity.

I recommend reading all of Mary’s posts on this subject, especially if you are one of the people that harbour hatred towards Islam.

Don’t be fooled by the plutocrats who care nothing for you. They would see your children burn just to oil their war machine and think nothing of it. They own the mass media and are deceivers; schooled by the master of deception.

I guarantee that anyone who studies Islam from source with an open heart will fall in love with Her just as I have.

There should be only one law in any country, not one rule for some and one for others. The laws of America and Britain have EVOLVED to be fair to EVERYONE ... not just men, and they're the laws that should apply in those countries. If you want to live under Shariah law, you should be living in a country where that's what operates, not trying to bring it in elsewhere.
