Mainstream media loves a crisis. A diverse set of Americans, coming together to fight for their rights and treating each other with kindness does not a top news story make.
So when the major news networks venture into the Occupy Wall Street crowd, they’re looking for someone who will make an outlandish statement or flaunt their mohawk to make the families at home gasp and clutch their hearts.
What they’re not looking for is someone clean, intelligent and articulate that can stay on point despite painfully leading questions.
That’s why you’re unlikely to ever see this clip aired on Fox News. Does the protester provide a succinct sound-byte that explains why hundreds of thousands of people across the nation have taken to the streets? No, he doesn’t. Instead, he calls out the mainstream media for discounting the movement because it can’t be summed up in a sound-byte.
