Trans Man Proposes to Girlfriend at White House Pride Reception
A transgender man used Friday’s Pride reception at the White House for a very special personal event: he proposed to his long-term partner.
Dr. Scout of the Network for LGBT Health Equity at The Fenway Institute, with the U.S. Marine Band playing, dropped to his knees and proposed to partner Liz Margolies. Appearing initially hesitant, Margolies, after being urged on by fellow guests and apparently getting a good luck at the ring (good for you), eventually said yes.
Watch the heartwarming event below (the actual proposal starts at the 1:55 mark):
This proposal followed President Obama giving a rousing speech to around 500 LGBT guests in which he talked of the things his administration has helped to achieve in terms of LGBT rights, from The Matthew Shepard Act to the DADT repeal, and what is still to come, including marriage equality.
