The news for Rush Limbaugh just gets worse.
Sony, British Petroleum, McDonalds, NBC, Toyota, Lowes, Visa, MasterCard, American Express and over one hundred other advertisers have left the show after he attacked Georgetown Law School student Sandra Fluke and called her a “prostitute” and a “slut” for speaking out in favor of contraceptive coverage.
Now it looks like Limbaugh lost the support of the U.S. Army as well.
For now Limbaugh’s program still airs on the Armed Forces Network. But it’s fair to ask for how long.
That’s because Premiere Networks, the company that syndicates Limbaugh’s show, told its affiliate radio stations that they are suspending national advertising for two weeks. As ThinkProgress explains, Limbaugh’s show is provided to affiliates for free in return for running several minutes of national ads given by Premiere for each hour. This is how Premiere makes money off the Limbaugh show and these are the ads they suspended.
The pressure is working. Let’s keep it up. Limbaugh got away with his sexist, racist rants for decades. Let’s make sure it ends now.
