SarahH, we pay less for gas than any other industrialized nation because we subsidize the oil industry. If we were required to pay for the true cost of gas it would be much higher than $3+. Most industrialized nations pay $5+/gal for gas.

Congress needs to enact a Bill and President Obama to sign it.
Each of our states needs to take some responsibility and each I believe has a renewable energy commission. Check your state....

Maybe he needs to offer fossil fuel firms a choice between having him be as mean as possible about non-tariff regulatory burden and them getting Congress to phase in a 50% across the board increase in the price of energy over five years with the increase to be divided 50/50 between buying renewable energy equipment and buying fossil fuel as reserves so it will not be burned.
