Woman Grieving Over Cocker Spaniel Amazingly Reunited With Lost Dog
I love this story!
Some higher power must be watching over B.J Ross, a 36-year-old mother of two young children who lives in Altoona, Pennsylvania.
How else to explain that while she was waiting to have her beloved dog cremated at her local humane society, she was reunited with her long-lost cocker spaniel?
Here’s the story:
B.J. Ross came home for her lunch break on Monday, June 11, to find that Bigsby, her 15-year-old cocker spaniel, had died. It was just one year after she had lost her cocker spaniel, Samson, in a snow storm. Anyone who has ever experienced the death of a beloved pet knows how Ms. Ross was feeling. Those animals tug at our heartstrings in relentless, painful ways.
Eventually, Ross drove to the Central Pennsylvania Humane Society to get Bigsby cremated. While at the shelter, her sorrow increased when she saw a man with a cocker spaniel of his own.
Ross’ mother overheard the man tell staff that he found the dog a year earlier in a parking lot in Ross’ old neighbourhood.
When Ross’ mother brought this to Ross’ attention, she immediately identified the dog as Samson.
“I passed Samson earlier when we came in and didn’t even notice. I was so distraught,” Ross said.
“Me and my boy went up and down the streets trying to find the owner,” John Aurandt, the man caring for Samson, told the Altoona Mirror. “I thought he was stray, but my boy wanted to keep him.”
Because Samson didn’t get along with the Aurandts’ other dog, Aurandt had decided to give the dog to the human society — on the very day Bigbsy died.
Wow! What an incredible story!
The Altoona Mirror reports that Humane Society Volunteer Coordinator Tammi Ingham said the reunion was a miracle.
“I get the goosebumps just thinking about it. … There are odd things that happen here, but nothing like that,” she said. “It sure made my day.”
Because Samson didn’t get along with the Aurandts’ other dog, Aurandt had decided to give the dog to the humane society. After Ross showed shelter staff photos of Samson, they let her take the dog home.
Ross said Samson has not left her side since his return and her two young children are over the moon that he’s back. Though she admits she’s still deep in mourning for Bigsby, she said her reunion with Samson has been nothing short of a modern-day miracle.
Talk about being in the right place at the right time: or maybe Bigsby just sent Samson back to Ms. Ross?
