Harlan Gardner of Machias, Maine, joined by four generations of his family, has recorded a special video in which he gives his reasons for supporting Maine’s marriage equality effort.
In the video Gardner, a World War II veteran, says that “marriage is a thing too precious not to share.” He goes on to say the fight for marriage equality “isn’t about politics; this is about family. This is how we as people treat one another.”
Watch the video below:
If marriage equality were to win in Maine it would be the first time voters have approved a same-sex marriage law at the ballot.

+ add your ownThank you Mr. Gardner. Freedom to marry who you love. It is not about politics but family.
A reasoned and intelligent argument demolishes the gay baiting tactics of certain Politicians who seem to think gay relationships are about lust, so how exactly are they different from straight relationships then? The simple fact is that Gay marriage makes sense for so many reasons and Harlan Gardner managed to sum it up so well.
Thanks Steve for the article and the great video. Mr. Gardner is a true Gentleman and Patriot. He and his family are true Americans.
Well said by a veteran of the Second World War. A man who left his home and family to serve our country overseas to defend our freedoms and liberties against violent opposition. A man who depply understands the importance of those freedoms and liberties that he risked his life to defend and protect. Well said. I hope many others listen to and heed your words.
EXACTLY!

Glad to see I wasn't the only 1 who became weepy eyed watching this. Thank you sir for all you have done and continue to do.
I would not add a single word to what Harlan Gardner said, it would only weaken his absolutely spot on message. What a truly beautiful human being.
Harlan, you the best.
