Yoda, a Chinese crested and Chihuahua mix weighing all of of 1.8 pounds, has won the title of “World’s Ugliest Dog,” says the New York Daily News. Her prize was a trophy 15 times bigger than her and $1000. Here she is (the little dog fell off the stage and was caught by a photography, fortunately):
Yoda won the trophy at the 23rd annual World’s Ugliest Dog contest in Petaluma, California, a competition held to raise awareness about rescued dogs and to encourage adoption. Her owner, Terry Devine Schumacher, says that her daughter found Yoda in a field 14 years ago, when she was two years old. Schumacher says she told her daughter to ” to put it down because [she] thought it was a rat.” Yoda, says the New York Daily News, has “beady eyes, hairless legs and strangely dangling tongue.”
Last year, Princess Abby, a one-eyed Chihuhua, won the prize, notes the Washington Post.

Every dog, no matter what they look like, deserves a loving home, yes — and beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
