Your Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Latte Is Missing A Pretty Crucial Ingredient

Written by Viola Knowles.

We’re fast approaching fall, and you know what that means: Pumpkin spice everything. Specifically, the return of Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Lattes.

While their delicious autumn flavor is so addicting you might need to seek help for it, it also contains some pretty iffy ingredients and is missing a few rather critical ones.

Health blogger Food Babe did a little investigation to discover exactly what’s in the tasty treat. The company was a little vague at first, but she was eventually able to get the truth.

Pumpkin Spice Lattes, among other things, contain at least 50 grams of sugar, and caramel color with ammonia.

Some also contain the dreaded High Fructose Corn Syrup (depending on the store location), and some even have pesticide residue. But here’s the real kicker, not a single latte contains any actual pumpkin.

Give your mind a second to be blown.

They should probably change the name of the drink to Pumpkin-Flavored Latte or Pumpkin-Less Latte.

Food Babe created these helpful diagrams to break down exactly what you’re drinking, and check out her blog to learn more about your favorite foods.

...and I thought I liked pumpkin. It's too bad how they charge extra for soy milk too.

do not buy any Starbucks.. it's CEO is not anyone you want to support. he ignores violation of the Constitution. is for law breaking by large companies including his own tax avoidance... has an ulgy hate for any regulations.. Worse he thinks its ok to recommend a child molester for placement in a job with children... I have all the evidence to back this up and would love if his now rotten company would take me to court..

It says "pumpkin spice latte". It could mean it has the spices of a pumpkin pie.

Never understand the attraction of Starbucks anyway! And since I heard about their tax avoidance thing (here in the U.K) I do my best to avoid them!

It looked really tasty, but when I did look at the ingredients as well, I passed on the "pumpkin" drink. It's disappointing. Would be nice if food was made of real food. Read Fast Food Nation.
