Ask NYC To Leave New Pandas In China Where They Belong!

Please sign and share this petition in an effort to ask New York City to leave two pandas in China where they belong and not to put them under undue stress traveling on a plane just to exhibit them in their zoo. Representative Maloney fell in love with two pandas on a recent trip to China, so now she wants to make them endure this stressful uprooting to be caged in a New York zoo.

Representative Carolyn Maloney had the honor of meeting a 4-year-old giant panda named Han Han, and she wanted to bring him and a mate back to the zoo in New York. She said she fell in love with him after he grabbed her hand and held it. The Manhattan Democrat, 68, is trying to get an official request letter from the Mayor’s Office to the Chinese government. So far, a mayoral aide was noncommittal.

The problem is that these poor animals get extremely stressed on a plane, making them very ill. Additionally, the representative hopes to mate the pair which is a very delicate process as well. China is considering shipping them but has not made a full decision as yet.

Carolyn Maloney shouldn't be using her political influence on a pet project like this. Bringing two pandas to the New York Zoo would be a very serious undertaking involving their health, planning, construction and fund-raising. It is not in the best interest of this highly endangered, beautiful creature. They want to mate the pandas and then send the baby back to a Chinese conservatory which would also be devastating for the young one!

NYC Government Officials and Representative Maloney - Please do not transport Han Han and a mate from China to NYC just because you fell in love with the 4-year old male. It is extremely dangerous to put these animals on a plane and causes them severe undue stress. These animals are such high endangered beings and need to remain in their natural habitat of China where they are protected. Do not put these animals in peril by placing them on a plane, bringing them here for display
