Save the "Love Boat"

"No, look, it's not right. Symbols should never be slaughtered." More than angry, mortified is the commander of the PACIFIC cruise ship, Captain Benedict Wolf.
There are thousands of ships in the world, and most will eventually meet their end under the blowtorch. A few of them, however, are special and should deserve a more dignified place in history. This little ship is one of them. The cruising industry as whole owes this little ship a great debt for making everyone want to cruise!
The MS PACIFIC was built in 1971 and started cruising for Princess Cruises in 1975. In 1977 the PACIFIC PRINCESS debuted in ABC's television series The Love Boat. The ship has been under arrest and laid-up in Genoa, Italy since 2008 after her owners failed to pay the shipyard for work done.
In March 2012 the ship was sold at auction to the Turkish scrapyard, Cemsan, for demolition. Although there were investors bidding to purchase her for further service, entrepreneurs were out bid and second bids were not allowed.
If any single ship is responsible for the for making the cruise industry the enormous industry it is today, it is the PACIFIC. She is a monument to the development of the cruise industry. Unless something can be done soon, the ship will be towed her final destination in Aliaga, Turkey.
We, the undersigned, urge you to take action to prevent the demolishing of the MS PACIFIC.
This ship is responsible for making cruising a popular and successful industry. Thanks to this ship, Princess Cruises - a Carnival Corporation subsidiary became a household name and cruising the dream of millions.
Please take action to save this monument to the cruise industry!
