Save the Archway 1 Arts Studio

Sign the petition to save the Archway 1 Archetype Art Studio and petition to save Archway 2 both for a community arts space, located in Bicentennial park in Sydney, which are currently under threat of closure.
We are campaigning for the support of art appreciators, who believe in the benefits of an art studio and art gallery, as a cultural necessity in an otherwise unused industrial space.
We have had many artists utilize the space over the years; photographers, painters, sculptors, illustrators, fashion designers and filmmakers. We have transformed the space in the 8 years of our tenancy and we would like to convince the current owners to allow us to continue managing the space and facilitate creativity and culture, as we have done in the past in providing artists, as well as ourselves with a space to create work. The space is an already established working arts studio with gallery and we would like to open the studio up to the community with regular art exhibitions, artist in residence, workshops and classes.
We need your support to make this happen. Please sign the petition, to demonstrate that you believe there is always a need for creative arts in every community, and that the Archway 1 Archetype Art Studio and Archway 2 should be saved, as it is a benefit to the surrounding park life and local City of Sydney community.

We the undersigned, urge you to enable the Directors of The Archetype Gallery to stay on in their current premises, Archway 1, Bicentennial Park as the creative caretakers of Archway 1 and Archway 2, space to facilitate and cultivate creative arts and art appreciation for the community. We believe the benefits to the community are numerous and such a space should be celebrated and supported. The Archetype duo, Stefan von Reiche and Rachel Jordan, have demonstrated that they have successfully utilized this formerly unused industrial space, as a working art studio and would continue to do so.
We support their aims to work with the local community and we request that City of Sydney provide the above mentioned space on the basis that the benefits to the community are:
- Allowing local artists access to this space is a positive step in facilitating culture in the area and supporting local creative’s need for space to work and exhibit.
- Their plans to open the space as a community art gallery with regular art exhibitions is of interest and benefit to the local community and would be a complimentary cultural addition to the atmosphere of the park.
- They have transformed this industrial space into a visually appealing usable space that has enhanced these already unique and rare heritage archways.
- We support their proposal and ask City of Sydney to see the merits and proposed efforts of this creative duo and a creative space such as theirs, in what would otherwise be an empty industrial space.
