Proposed Cobourg Marina Expansion PRESERVE OUR HERITAGE HARBOUR

This proposal for a Three Phase expansion of the marina will virtually destroy a  long standing important bird migratory area for native and non native wildfowl which is known province wide.

It not only had an abundant display of wildfowl,butterflies,plants etc. on display in the past,but now has been virtually destroyed by the dumping of the sludge from the harbour dredging reducing it to a plain beach of sand.

This proposed expansion of 120 boat slips constructed right in this area ,will not only deprive the people of the pleasure of seeing Nature at work,but also the wildfowl of an important safe stop over point on their migratory journey which has been available for many many years.

For a three/four month boating period out of the year, for the benefit mostly of out of town boat owners,the town residents and visitors will be deprived of this enjoyment of nature close up , should this expansion proposal come to fruition.
