Say %u201CNo%u201D to the project %u201CPascua-Lama%u201D.
The transnational enterprise Barrick Gold, had a project to  move three glaciers in the frontier between Chile and Argentina, to extract 547 tons of gold. The following info was sended for people signing this petition:

The original urgent action was initiated in December 2004 to end in January 2005. see http://www.miningwatch.ca/index.php?/104/Pascua_Lama_Urgent_Action)

please see too http://www.terradaily.com/reports/Chile_Approves_Glacier_Gold_Mine.html

As the govenment and the local environmental group have agreed to the tunneling project instead of "relocating" the glaciers and agreed on waste treatment regulations the success of further action is questionable. Courtesy of Gerhard.

Now, the mine will still use toxic chemicals and release all manner of other toxins like mercury into the environment. Barrick's own statement says it will make sure the water will 'comply with legal water quality standards' but that doesn't mean high standards and mining companies often breach these limits. Basically just note the flimsy barrick rhetoric. The damage it will do to water quality.
