I've always loved wildlife and been fascinated by people indigenous to the rain forest. As the son of an Ornithologist (researcher of birds), I had fabulous opportunities early in life to see pristine tropical forests and remote tribes. These opportunities led to three insights that inspired me to establish E-Cards.com and now Care2:

1. Stopping environmental destruction is of paramount importance.
2. We place greatest value on the issues we are exposed to and participate in daily.
3. Market forces drive destruction, and therefore protection of the environment.

In a nutshell, we hope Care2 is a system whereby all participants get value out of helping the environment.

You get to send great cards for free. Contributing artists receive widespread exposure. Advertisers reach new customers. Care2 employees have upside business potential.The Non-Profits we sponsor get exposure and financial support. The environment benefits through the Non-Profits, and because daily we involve thousands of customers in the pro-environment fight - and it's their enthusiasm and their decisions on what they value that will determine the course of change.

I'm in my early 30's, a native of New England, USA and I currently live in the San Francisco Bay Area.

I'm the guy wearing the baseball cap and no gourd. (Males from the Lani tribe in Irian Jaya, New Guinea, wear nothing but a gourd held on by a cloth wrap - except during special occasions when they may dress-up with body paint and necklaces).
