Access to fresh local organic foods in my own neighborhood where I meet and greet friends and neighbors while strengthening my community and my health--it's a win-win situation!

Wonderful fresh food, great atmosphere and some of the friendliest people I know. Fantastic variety of vendors. And they also have kids activities. This allows me to shop without interruption, yet they are nearby so I can still keep an eye on them.

Lansing's Allen Neighborhood Center (ANC) is a treasured jewel two blocks from my house. Not only do they provide great community programs, but a fabulous farmer's market that continues to grow each year. Each Wednesday is an opportunity to meet up with friends, win cool (and healthy) prizes for answering health related questions, listen to live local music, sample different recipes using local food and talk to the farmer who grew your week's groceries. The ANC Farmer's Market was also the first non-profit in Michigan to be authorized for the use of EBT money (food stamps). ANC has always been focused on the health of the neighborhood, but good health is beyond education workshops and signing residents up for the Ingham County Health Plan. ANC has successfully combined the need to access healthy food while also providing a marketing opportunity for small local farmers. While this article is a little outdated (ANC has had their market in full swing for about 5 years now), it is a great summary of ANC's Farmer's Market and other healthy initiatives. http://www.communityvoices.org/Article.aspx?ID=356 ANC is the heartbeat of Lansing's eastside and continues to grow its healthy efforts. It's true - good health is contagious and the ANC Farmer's Market is dishing it up!

I've been a regular since the very first day they opened. I can walk there from my house a few blocks down and it's nice to go where everyone knows you.

The Allen Neighborhood Center has changed my life. I didn't know what my life was even about until I met the great people there and began to understand the importance of community and investing not only money but energy and love locally. I couldn't be happier. The Allen Neighborhood Center deserves everything there is to offer.

Allen Neightborhood Center does great work for the neighborhood and Lansing. They were key to getting the Farmer's Market in an area that otherwise might not have one!

Allen Neighborhood Center has been such a gathering place for all in our area of Lansing as well as people that come from outside the neighborhood due to the beautiful supply of organic fruits/vegies as well as all of the wonderful plants, soaps, apple butter....you name....Allen Neighborhood's Farmer's Market has got it! The hours are great for those who work an 8-5 job, the parking is convenient and free, and the vendors are fantastic. It's so nice to live in the city and be able to pick up fresh food for dinner....right from the farmer who grew it!

Love the produce, products and people. The colorful flags, great music and tasty smells give the market a great vibe. My kids can roam safely, play games or do crafts while learning about their community.
