The community development approach to the Market highlights not only healthy, local foods, but needed health, nutrition, and other resources needed within our community. The diverse cultural music, performances, festivities, and free services really make this Market stand out!

It was great to have a local farmers market, especially one dedicated to supporting the community the way the Grain Project was!

Besides making fresh fruit & vegetables available, this market provides health resources & nutrition information to the community. In addition, local musicians, including children's groups, provide entertainment. There is a real sense of community at SACFM.

it brings the community together in new ways -- children, local artists, residents, musicians, families... every one can come down for great produce, live music, dancing, or great company.

In a predominantly low-income hispanic community, in the largest City in Orange County California, our Farmer's Market has closed (see excerpt below). More than ever, donations are needed to upstart this great assest to the community of Santa Ana. It is with much regret that we inform you, our treasured patrons, supporters, and friends of the Santa Ana Certified Farmers' Market, that the Market will not re-open on the previously scheduled date of February 6, 2008. We simply do not have the resources required to operate the Market at this time. http://www.grainproject.org/santaana.htm

It's important to have a community market with heathy foods available. This helps to bring people together and make the neighborhoods stronger. It's a great place to get new ideas, make new friends, become aware and just grow into better people. Thank you for this opportunity, everyone should have a farmer's market accessible to them.

...because it fosters an extraordinary sense of community and makes me feel like I am part of something much greater; also, the commitment and vision shown by the people who run this market is seriously inspiring.

because of the incredible dedication and singularity shown by the market manager, vendors, volunteers, and affiliates in creating more than a marketplace (which is itself already cool)--but also a true community happening focused on compassion, learning, eco concerns, and joie de vivre. because of the ways they surprise us... the innovative and highly important program offerings. for ex., the WIC and food stamps programs. and because of the delicious kumquats. yum!!

Because there is no farmer's market currently like it in Orange County! It not only delivers fresh and organic food to the community, it also provides entertainment, the arts, wellness programs, and a community gathering spot for this diverse city.
