Every summer for three weeks I go to sleep away camp at Eagles Nest. And every year I take gardening. One of my favorite things to do when we go on field trips is going to the farmer's market and visiting all of the farmers we have become friends with over the years. We buy things and go back to camp and make a yummy meal. I love how good the food tastes because it is fresh and from nearby. Food can't get better than this.

My dog and I go every week and find an abundance of extremely affordable, locally grown fruits and vegetables. I can't believe there is anyone and Transylvania County who doesn't go.

I LOVE MY TAILGATE MARKET! It's not only full of locally grown, colorful, and glorious vegetables and fruits; there are handmade, homecooked items of all sorts; actual farmers wearing overalls and jumpsuits with dirt under their nails; and over half the town to mix and mingle with while eating blackberries or peaches or grape tomatoes or... right out of the pint container.

Fresh fruits and vegetables plus homemade treasures like jam and grain bread. A good place to sample the area's hospitality.
