It is a very neighborhood type market that supports local growers, the cultural communities it is a part of, accessible to a large part of the south minneapolis residents and is just a very positive atmosphere that makes the community a better place and allows neighbors to connect with one another while supporting local growers and healthy lifestyles.

Because this market lies within walking distance of many poor folks who do not have access to organic produce any other way. It creates a positive feeling of community right in the heart of one of the diciest areas south of downtown, and brings joy, music, art, and respect for people's handiwork back into their lives. It's super accessible by LRT and bus, and it's a great focus for the creative energies of the community--alsoa role model for kids as to what commerce really is, and what entrepenuership looks like in action.

In an urban area, "community" can be a term lost in the hustle and bustle of daily life. There is a community flavor at the Midtown Farmer's Market that is not present in other farmer's markets in the twin cities. South Minneapolis neighbors running into one another, vendors recognizing shoppers from previous interactions, local musicians playing, tables for lounging -- all of these elements contribute to an atmosphere that is conducive to community. The Midtown Farmer's Market makes me love where I live.

The Farmer's Market is next to the YWCA, and so Saturday mornings I go the Y and go to the Market on my bike. It is wonderful to see all the different ethnicities -- Hmong, East African, Native American, African American and Western European all happily buying and selling these beautiful vegetables and other lovely items. It makes Saturday morning one of my favorite times to be in the Twin Cities.

I live in Duluth but I actually patronize Midtown Market in Minneapolis more than my local Duluth farmer's market because I love the variety I find there and the low prices. It's not Duluth's fault, we just have a colder climate, shorter growing season and less farmland available here. But our local sustainable farmers are heroes to us!

The diversity of vendors, the truely local flavor (there aren't any fruits flown in from far away places for example), the willingness to be in a somewhat challenged neighborhood, the service to the community to provide a space for musician, poets, and young local talent to perform, all of these are reasons that I think that the Midtown Farmer's Market is wonderful.

The midtown farmers market is in the neighborhood I grew up in, continue to support and work in. The midtown farmers market gives a gathering place for the community as well as access to locally grown fresh vegies, fruits and herbs. Everyone benefits!

So I come to the market to get fresh produce, but I have hardly any cash. No problem, I just take out my credit card and am able to give it to a volunteer who turns it into wooden nickel market money that I can use with any of the vendors! Plus, it is so easy to get to by bike or by train! I shouldn't forget the food! I have never seen so many heirloom tomatoes on one place!

Midtown Farmers' Market is a wonderful event, in the heart of the city. There is music, organic food, diversity and good coffee every time. When the weather is good you can sit in the sun and watch the trains rush by while drinking great coffee and eating a fresh tamale. The prize money would do a world of good in a place that wishes only the best and most American of goals.

Midtown Farmers' Market is important to our neighborhood for many reasons; from being able to support local farmers, artists, cooks, and musicians, to having a chance to meet and get to know our neighbors. Local healthy produce is important to our community and that is why the MFM contributes to a healthy community culture. My neighbors are proud of our farmers' market for many reasons, including the wonderful hot dogs we can enjoy from the Magic Bus!

In the middle of a very urban corridor of the city, there is place where I can go and get not only fresh produce of all sorts, I can talk to the growers,( the people who had their hands in the dirt to plant, grow and pick this item this morning) and find out the name and variety of what I am buying and how best to fix it once I get it home. There are also vendors that sell delicious prepared food for me to buy and try and craft work as well. It is a slice of country charm amid the buzzing traffic.

unlike big name stores the Midtown Farmers Market contains the hearts and souls of many local farmers, trying to do the right thing- why wouldn't I want to support local, sustainable foods and my local economy??
Well they have fresh organic produce, and most of it is local. Prices are AFFORDABLE and you can often find good deals on clearance. Across the aisle there is locally raised meat and eggs, and then there's a cheese section which is also mostly LOCAL. Not to mention it's located in a fairly poor neighborhood, a couple miles up the road from the next source of fresh produce. It's an intrinsic part of a neighborhood revitalization campaign that so far as I can tell has worked miracles over the last few years - the Midtrown Global Market - which also serves as home to countless locally owned restaurants and shops representing every major ethnic group in the Twin Cities. Other cities should try to replicate this model.

I love biking to the Midtown Farmers' Market almost every Saturday. It comforts me to know that my money is going to support local farmers, and that the food I'm buying is top-notch and didn't have to get trucked across the country to me. I've gotten to know the friendly faces over the past few years and I'm always greeted with huge smiles. And Mala's crepes are so dreamy!

I like it because it is intimate and there is so much for such a small area. Just what is manageable and fun.

It's close, and It feels like a corner market -- I always run into my neighbors and friends. And has a great selection of food and cool stuff, plus live music.

Aside from the delicious fresh produce, I'm pretty sure this is the ONLY farmer's market where you can climb aboard a purple "magic bus" and eat a "vegetarian" breakfast tofu hot dog topped with organic scrambled eggs and locally raised bacon bits.

Convenience of proximity, good parking, great neighborhood gathering place with live music and friends meeting friends for a cup of coffee and a bite to eat. The produce is always wonderful and fresh. Lots of variety.

It's actually in a neighborhood (people are able to walk to the market from home) and it offers us an opportunity to actually meet the people who grow our produce and raise and kill the animals we eat.
