"Cause it rocks! Farmers from just outside our metro area - where you can actually have cattle, farms, tractors and what-not - come to us and sell their goods. It feels more village-like and makes it a little easier to forget that we live in a metropolis. Love it!

Midtown Farmers' Market in Mpls is a community gathering point, provides access to fresh and local veggies to low and moderate income urban families, and is a shining example of community-inspired leadership and sustainability.

I work across the street from Midtown Farmers' Market and the accessibility for lunch, for meetings, for shopping, and for all the fresh vegies and fruit is fantastic. There is a diversity of vendors and offerings that I have not seen anywhere else in Minneapolis. And Minnesota Nice is not just a saying when you go there, it is practiced by everyone I have met there. #1 in my book.

It is a very neighborhood type market that supports local growers, the cultural communities it is a part of, accessible to a large part of the south minneapolis residents and is just a very positive atmosphere that makes the community a better place and allows neighbors to connect with one another while supporting local growers and healthy lifestyles.

Because this market lies within walking distance of many poor folks who do not have access to organic produce any other way. It creates a positive feeling of community right in the heart of one of the diciest areas south of downtown, and brings joy, music, art, and respect for people's handiwork back into their lives. It's super accessible by LRT and bus, and it's a great focus for the creative energies of the community--alsoa role model for kids as to what commerce really is, and what entrepenuership looks like in action.

I feel like I have developed a relationship with the farmers there. They ask about my kids and remember conversations we had last year! The produce is exceptional--so fresh, and so inexpensive. There is also hot healthy food available sometimes and music. People come together there who otherwise wouldn't mingle. My family moved from Minneapolis to St. Paul, and still go back to the Midtown Farmer's Market every week.

The Midtown Farmers' Market has let me sing on their market stage for the last four years. Only a mile away from my home, it has been the number one thing in my life that has helped me to feel like part of my neighborhood's community. I also love the variety of vendors, and I have become a loyal customer to a few of them in particular: Barsy's Almonds and Chase Brook Farm.

Our family benefits in every way possible from the farmers' market: we buy amazing amounts of organic food for very affordable prices; our teenage children grow in their understanding that food doesn't grow on grocery store shelves, and it's simply a wonderful opportunity to meet the farmers and see all our neighbors every Saturday morning! The market has become a regular part of our weekend schedule, and whenever possible, we go as a family.

In an urban area, "community" can be a term lost in the hustle and bustle of daily life. There is a community flavor at the Midtown Farmer's Market that is not present in other farmer's markets in the twin cities. South Minneapolis neighbors running into one another, vendors recognizing shoppers from previous interactions, local musicians playing, tables for lounging -- all of these elements contribute to an atmosphere that is conducive to community. The Midtown Farmer's Market makes me love where I live.

The Farmer's Market is next to the YWCA, and so Saturday mornings I go the Y and go to the Market on my bike. It makes Saturday morning one of my favorite times to be in the Twin Cities.

I live in Duluth but I actually patronize Midtown Market in Minneapolis more than my local Duluth farmer's market because I love the variety I find there and the low prices. It's not Duluth's fault, we just have a colder climate, shorter growing season and less farmland available here. But our local sustainable farmers are heroes to us!

The diversity of vendors, the truely local flavor (there aren't any fruits flown in from far away places for example), the willingness to be in a somewhat challenged neighborhood, the service to the community to provide a space for musician, poets, and young local talent to perform, all of these are reasons that I think that the Midtown Farmer's Market is wonderful.

I support Midtown Farmers' Market because it is an awesome farmer's market. You buy directly from local farmers - not from some of the wholesalers you see at other markets.

Located in the heart of one of the most diverse streets in the Twin Cities, the MFM truly represents what it means to engage people from all over the metro area in two of the most basic human needs: food and community.

So I come to the market to get fresh produce, but I have hardly any cash. No problem, I just take out my credit card and am able to give it to a volunteer who turns it into wooden nickel market money that I can use with any of the vendors! Plus, it is so easy to get to by bike or by train! I shouldn't forget the food! I have never seen so many heirloom tomatoes on one place!

Midtown Farmers' Market is a wonderful event, in the heart of the city. There is music, organic food, diversity and good coffee every time. When the weather is good you can sit in the sun and watch the trains rush by while drinking great coffee and eating a fresh tamale. The prize money would do a world of good in a place that wishes only the best and most American of goals.

Midtown Farmers' Market is important to our neighborhood for many reasons; from being able to support local farmers, artists, cooks, and musicians, to having a chance to meet and get to know our neighbors. Local healthy produce is important to our community and that is why the MFM contributes to a healthy community culture. My neighbors are proud of our farmers' market for many reasons, including the wonderful hot dogs we can enjoy from the Magic Bus!

In the middle of a very urban corridor of the city, there is place where I can go and get not only fresh produce of all sorts, I can talk to the growers,( the people who had their hands in the dirt to plant, grow and pick this item this morning) and find out the name and variety of what I am buying and how best to fix it once I get it home. There are also vendors that sell delicious prepared food for me to buy and try and craft work as well. It is a slice of country charm amid the buzzing traffic.

Well they have fresh organic produce, and most of it is local. Prices are AFFORDABLE and you can often find good deals on clearance. Across the aisle there is locally raised meat and eggs, and then there's a cheese section which is also mostly LOCAL. Not to mention it's located in a fairly poor neighborhood, a couple miles up the road from the next source of fresh produce. It's an intrinsic part of a neighborhood revitalization campaign that so far as I can tell has worked miracles over the last few years - the Midtrown Global Market - which also serves as home to countless locally owned restaurants and shops representing every major ethnic group in the Twin Cities. Other cities should try to replicate this model.

The Midtown Farmers Market and the people that participate in it and help run it are part of an engaged, active, deverse and supportive community. As a community organizer I have worked with them and they have helped us reach out and get support from the community. It's also not too big and very well situated.

The Midtown Farmer's Market has a very "neighborhood" feel and the Midtown neighborhood is a wonderful point of intersecting ethnicities of people and subsequently a great variety of foods. Being at Lake Street and the Hiawatha Light Rail line, it is the farmer's market of MPLS that is best served by transit.

For too many years I drove out of my way, like so many others, to attend the St. Paul Farmer's Market. Ever since the Midtown market began, I've been able to bike (or at least drive a very short distance) to my neighborhood farmer's market and buy great produce alongside my neighbors. I love that.

It is becoming a center piece of the area, a place to meet friends, an access to good produce, a destination for folks on the LRT, an identifying feature of the adjoining neighborhoods. It is a dream come true for our neighborhood, and one of the best results of the development that came about when a light rail station was built at the intersection of Lake Street and Hiawatha. Its location near the local YWCA and the transit station in a bustling urban neighborhood have made it a great success.

It's close, and It feels like a corner market -- I always run into my neighbors and friends. And has a great selection of food and cool stuff, plus live music.

Aside from the delicious fresh produce, I'm pretty sure this is the ONLY farmer's market where you can climb aboard a purple "magic bus" and eat a "vegetarian" breakfast tofu hot dog topped with organic scrambled eggs and locally raised bacon bits.

Convenience of proximity, good parking, great neighborhood gathering place with live music and friends meeting friends for a cup of coffee and a bite to eat. The produce is always wonderful and fresh. Lots of variety.

It's actually in a neighborhood (people are able to walk to the market from home) and it offers us an opportunity to actually meet the people who grow our produce and raise and kill the animals we eat.
