It's unfortunately the only farmer's market in the area, but it has quite a bit of variety and it is in a nice setting. It is located in a part of our small city called "Old Towne" and is held every Saturday behind the Central Fire Station in a small park. It's nice to be able to do your shopping and then let the kids play for a bit. It is also within walking distance to museums, several churches and the city auditorium. Several months out of the year it is also surrounded by antique fairs, arts and crafts fairs, parades and other various celebrations. We also have short winters here in SE Louisiana which makes visiting there very enjoyable.

We really need to rebuild our market, there hasn't been one in Slidell since before hurricane Katrina and I know the citizens of our city would really appreciate one!

I never heard of Camellia City Market. Where the heck is it? Do they advertise anywhere? Really been wishing for a local farmers market since the one on Front St washed away in the hurricane.

I support this market because I love fresh producelocally grown. It also has lots of homemade items like, jelly, gumbo, pulled pork, homemade cakes, breads, etc. I also like to shop for locally grown foods to help support oursmall family farmers.

Fresh veggies, home made cheeses, desserts, friendly chit chat, gathering place on a Saturday morning, what more could you ask for?

It took 3 years for our local farmer's market to come back after Hurricane Katrina. When it first started one year ago, there weren't many vendors just yet. People were still trying to recuperate from the devastating effects of the storm surge from Hurricane Katrina. But the organizers kept at it, and one year later, the market is growing with new vendors and new buyers. It is becoming a stablizing and centralized place for local fresh fruit and vegetables. I love buying fresh vegetables at the downtown Camellia City Market. The vegetables and fruits are so tasty and fresh!

Camellia City Market is a group of friendly vendors selling locally grown seasonal fruits and vegetables and offering a variety of ethnic home made foods.
