It's in my neighborhood, has fantastic farmers, amazing artisan food purveyors, live music and a view of the bay, and today 3 chefs built the world's largest caprese salad there. It's a happening place full of farm-fresh food.

It has a great neighborhood feel, it's big, and not all crowded together in a parking lot somewhere-but stretched over 4-5 blocks, and has wonderful artisan foods, and such friendly farmers & vendors!

Its size compared with others markets in the area. The quality of the products and their artisan vendors. The consistency of the vendors and purveyors. The location. The community and its European feel. It is not unusual to overhear conversations in several different languages. A Saturday adventure.

Because where else can you shop, hear live music, view the palm trees and the bay, and support the local economy all in one place?!

There is something about the Little Italy Mercato that makes Saturdays a whole lot better. To some, itís being able to walk down the street and see the vendors and their produce. For others, itís being able to support local farmers and merchants. But for me, I like the idea of getting the freshest of the fresh- food thatís picked within days of ripeness. I would rather spend my Saturdays shopping in Little Italy and know that I have something fresh, something great. Instead of stopping at the supermarket and settling for something that is just ok.

I no longer shop for produce at the grocery store because I can just walk to the Little Italy Mercato to get all the produce that I want! It is also so delicious. It just makes sense to buy really delicious ingredients and support the local farmers who work so hard and are rarely given the credit that they deserve. Also, they have everything one would need from olive oil, eggs, cheese, meat, to of course the sun ripened fruits and vegetables.

Great variety, fresh produce and very helful vendors. I always come home with a new recipe or new ways to cook a vegetable. Also the music and the festive ambience make it my favorite farmers market.

Little Italy Mercato is a burst of sunshine, music, fresh organic food and interesting products. Neighbors and tourists mingle and make friends. It's a happy place that makes you smile and want to sing Italian songs. Well, maybe just hum them.
