The oldest of the JC farmers markets, it was our vendors who rallied to thwart the Gov's idea of doing away w/ the NJDA...& thank goodness...because during last yr's tainted tomato debacle, NJ-grown tomatoes remained their usual best & readily available.

Love the fresh corn, tomatoes and peaches! Beans and bread stuff too!

Love being able to grab fresh, locally grown produce --only caveat is that I wish they were open early morning, and more days.

If you go to the "fresh fruit markets" on Central avenue in Jersey City you will know why we love the farmers market on Journal Square. The fruit and vegetables are clean and fresh. In addition, it is locally grown. Just try to get fruit like that in the local stores.

Great variety of fresh locally grown vegetables, baked goods with friendly and knowlegeable vendors. Great way to spend my lunch hour.

Buying local helps keep greenhouse emissions down and money in the pockets of local businesspeople and consumers. The Jersey City-Journal Square market also provides me an opportunity to get incredibly fresh produce less than a 10 minute walk away from my apartment!

The market brings a bit of the Country into the heart of our City.Usually here the veggies are packaged and semi processed....It's nice to see the produce in it's "raw" form...
