It's the best!
Fresh, local grown food is the best for all. This is the best way to 'go green.' No long distance transportation/fuel emissions, pesticides that put produce 'to sleep' then again to 'wake up' when it gets to final destination. Plus the added benefit of keeping local farmers working, which is good for everyone.
A great way to open our kids eyes to the 'bigger' picture of food and healthy choices. It's a great atmosphere for all.
I like to support local farmers and enjoy the fresh produce (and fresh cider doughnuts!!)

We love the fresh vegs and pottery! We love the atmosphere, music and the Tannery is right there to shop or browse on Sundays! It's great!

This is a fantastic addition to our town. It's great to be able to have such fresh, high quality food.
I enjoy the music provided by visiting musicians. They have all been very talented. The coffee provided by local vendors and weekly fresh eggs, bacon and ham provided by a local farmer are delicious. Seats and tables are available to join friends and family and "regulars" for breakfast in the outdoors.
The craftspeople have beautiful and affordable offerings, which I enjoy. The venue is small enough to buy fruits and vegetables easily, put them in your car and then to realx and enjoy breakfast and the entertainment.

I support our local growers because I know that everything is fresh (which means the produce lasts longer) and pesticide free. I am also a big fan of the "Little Milkman" in Portsmouth, NH - fresh milk in a glass bottle.....mmmmm!!

First of all, it is in such a perfect spot so that many of us walk down to the market. It's perfect. Of course they have the most beautiful vegetables and baked goods around. Not only that, everyone is so friendly and happy to be out. I love it.

I love that by having a farmers market we can teach our children what buying local is all about. Between what we grow in our own garden and what our boys see at the farmers market, they can see the direct benefit of good, healthy food at it's purest state. There are so many local farms in our area and the Newburyport Farmers' Market is a wonderful way to bring them all together to help our community support local food providers. I am a huge fan of eating local whenever possible, and the Farmers' Market is a great complement to our CSA.
This is the first year for the Newburyport FM. It is a great market with tremendous diversity of products. Local farms and biz bring their best goods not to mention terrific entertainment to rally the kids and families. It is a meeting place for many with one common thread. Family friendly, located away from traffic, great variety of booths from local farmers and craftsmen on a rotation every other week, places to sit and eat shade/sun, friendly people. My kids ask to go there (ages 4-9).

I support the Newburyport Farmers' Market because it is the best way to support local producers and get the freshest, healthiest best tasting products in our area. It is also a wonderful weekly intergenerational event. It's a great social experience.
It's not just a Farmers Market, it's a communal event. Not only do we get to support the local farmers, but also included are local artisans, bakers, and all sorts of food suppliers. They even have a design your own granola booth, and an ever changing kids booth. There has been demonstrations of alternative and sustainable energy. We even get to meet and greet a different farm animal each week. All this to the back drop of local live music! The Newburyport Farmers Market thinks globally, but acts locally.
You know you have a great local farmer's market when you see people hurriedly walking from all directions toward downtown on Sunday mornings, their canvas bags tucked tightly under the arm. Seeing this always makes my anticipation greater, and I'm never disappointed. The Nport farmer's market has great variety, community support and a lively atmosphere! From the live music and animals to the wonderful local roast coffee and prepared, food, the farmer's market here makes you feel like part of a concerned, aware and proactive community.

There is a great variety of fresh produce that you just don't get at the supermarket. The cool tunes are a nice addition that make the weekly farmers' market outing not only productive for picking up my produce - but entertaining for the whole family. Also, there are some great local artisans. All in all it's a top notch farmers' market.

I love the Newburyport Farmers' Market because it reminds me of the markets we have visited in Provence, France. Like in Provence, there is entertainment, ready to eat foods and locally made wares in addition to the expected farm produce.

I have lived all over the country and the diverse selection of goods, prepared foods, plants etc. has really enriched our community. I think some Farmer's Markets get dilluted with too many things. Our is PERFECT!
It truly is a matter of history and "history in the making" ~ given the Newburyport Farmers' Market restores the tradition of local farmers (and vendors) coming to the heart of (the Waterside) community (of Newburyport) to sell their produce and wares (*).

Community, value and interest ... it all seems to thrive at the Newburyport Farmers Market. As I perused the vegies, herbs and the animal displays I felt as though I had gone 'back-in-time' to an era when we all strived to help and support one-another!
Not only is there a vast array of wonderful, locally grown and produced products, but the weekly event has become a community builder enticing locals and tourists alike to a festive, welcoming atmosphere that celebrates all the good things our area has to offer as well as modeling sustainability.
On the economic side, I think that it's important to support local businesses and farmers. I also want to reduce my carbon footprint and eat fresh, local foods that are more nutritious.
I am glad to support the efforts of local farmers and artisans. By supporting the local economy I am also helping to reduce the use of fuel to transport the food I eat. plus, the food that I have bought has been wonderful.

Newburyport is well known for many reasons. It is my hope that sustainability will become one such reason. Eating cleanly, locally, and with the seasons is a worthwhile step toward that end. I'm excited and encouraged by this development!

I support this event on Sundays because it is so very delightful to walk from my home, to a great smelling, CLEAN, REASONABLY priced event with a gathering of great vendors and great people, in general! And, everyone loves my doggie, when I bring him! The only drawback is.......no known public "facilities" The fresh goods are SPECTACULAR

Even thought it's early in the season for a wide variety of produce in this area, the market has beautiful produce! Love the atmosphere, the sellers, the location, the proximity to my house. Glad they allow dogs now! Love the goat and chickens, etc.
I like buying locally grown vegetables. In the 70's Newburyport had a co-op and I participated in that as well....it is just why I live here.
Bringing locally grown fresh fruits and vegetables into the city provides us with an alternative to store bought, picked green, trans-continentally shipped, warehouse-gassed produce.

I watched 60 minutes a few weeks ago on Slow Food Movement with Alice Waters who owns Chez Panisse in California - a restaurant that's been rated one of the best in the world because she uses all fresh ingredients and only locally grown produce and meats. I think it's an important movement and sends a strong message to restaurants who have been serving us foods that are making us sick (i.e. cancer) processed foods, high fructose corn syrup, fried foods, transfats with no thought or consideration to public health. I think restaurants have a responsibility to do the right thing and we as a community have a responsibility to ensure that we speaking up. The farmers market is very important to the community, to health, to the Northeast - and hopefully, we are becoming more health aware and progressive in the process. Great fresh vegetables grown locally!
Even in the pouring rain the vendors are happy and friendly. The displays are creative, green and enticing. The young band playing Sunday morning jazz is fun to watch and gets you in the mood to shop. The excitement from the shoppers is contagious. The strawberries sweet and juicy!

This market has been incredibly successful in attracting local consumers, showcasing local farmers, providing quality produce and other goods, while at the same time becoming truly a community event! Live music, good food, quality goods, a coming together of neighbors and friends - what more can you can for?
Because it has rained cats and dogs for the first two weekends but the market has been packed with visitors and the vendors are wonderful! It makes me proud to be part of the community.

We have needed this Farmers' Market urgently in Newburyport! There are a lot of people who want to support the local farmers and who are interested in eating healthy and fresh food. I live in Newburyport and am now able to get healthy, fresh and local vegetable without having to buy a share which would be too much for me!

The vendors are wonderful and the variety they offer is great. Everyone is friendly and knowledgeable. It's a fun time and as a bonus, they are dog friendly. I am training my dog to be a therapy dog and the market offers perfect socialization!

I grew up here but moved away to live in VT for the last 14 years. Farmers markets are a normal occurrence up there. When I recently moved back to the area I was shocked to find out that there weren't any held regularly in the area. I'm so happy that there is one finally taking place. So exciting. I think it's so important especially these days to have a place to showcase the amazing products available locally.

The biggest reason I support The Newburyport Farmers' Market is the support of local farmers who work extremely hard to produce a quality product and fresh product. It is so nice meet the people who are growing and producing the products I am purchasing. I also like the gathering of people each Sunday. I love running into friends and chatting while you are enjoying your coffee and shopping local.
It a farmers market and it's in Newburyport, duh! Seriously, they have beautiful veggies, flowers and herbs. They have sweet farm animals that the kiddies love. They have AMAZING breakfast sandwiches and they have live music. What more could you want?!?!?

The NBPT farmers market is brand new. Most farmers markets start very small, and grow over time. The first one was so fantastic! The variety in produce, hand made crafts, meats, interesting farmers/people (The Chicken guy), etc. was so fun and thrilling. I spent two hours shopping, eating and talking to friends and meeting new people. It had such a great feeling, and was a much needed market just waiting to happen...
It is the best thing that has happened to Downtowm NBPT. Fresh produce in a community setting, music, well organized. Awesome!

Produce is delicious as only super fresh produce can be. Strawberries picked a few hours before purchase are heavenly.
