The Poughkeepsie Main Street Farmers' Market is a small, feisty diamond in the rough. It's the sole source of fresh, locally grown vegetables and fruits for dozens of food-insecure downtown families, as well as a place where people from all social strata mix, mingle, get to know and trust each other, and realize their common ground: great food, great music and great times. Besides the farm produce, there's an unofficial ethnic food court that can't be beat. It takes place from break time through lunch time every Friday, so it pulls in a lot of commuting office workers as well, who get to let their hair down for an hour. It's awesome!
