The DYFM has a great variety of produce grown by wonderful farmers that are always willing to share recipes and ideas, even those that aren't food related! I love having a face with the food I buy, and knowing that it was grown close to the market- so much closer than food at large grocery stores. And I love local artists and musicians and chefs... the whole thing brightens my week.

Ypsilanti has the most diverse market, in many ways. I love the variety of the food and vendors-and I come home with food every Tuesday that is delicious, local, and home-grown! The Farmer's Market also has a debit card system and accepts the bridge card.

Great people, great food, good fun... it's all about saying hello to neighbors and building community (without even knowing it).

I lived in Ypsilanti for 30 years and saw them struggle. Many times we were low on money and still able to purchase quality produce. Vendors are friendly and pull together and have a childrens' garden for low income folks. It is truly a community organization and I vote for them getting the $5,000 prize for the refurbishment of the train depot where musicians played, the elderly had a place to hang out and dance, the handicapped were welcommed, and toddlers waved at the trains and were encouraged to participate! Oh the food was wonderful and very inexpensive!

The market is very easy to access for many different people and has brought new vibrancy to downtown. All of the vendors are friendly and offer great variety and reasonable prices.

I support Farmers' Markets everywhere! I lived in Ypsilanti a few years back, and saw the need for this market when it was just starting. Currently, I live in Southern Mexico, where I have started a grass roots org. educating the importance of growing, selling and consuming locally produced organic foods. Was a member of the East End Food Co-op when I lived in Pittsburgh for many years and am very happy to see that it still survives--stronger than ever--despite the fact that "Whole Foods" moved in practically next door. It's all about growing the local community.

This market on Tuesday from 2:00 pm until 7:00 pm is an ideal market for the local neighborhood. It is within walking distance from a lot of lower income residents, many of whom can't afford gas to drive to a supermarket. Note that there are no supermarkets in the City of Ypsilanti.

There are so many fresh picked vegetables and fruits. It's wonderful to have a farmer's market so convenient.
