They have heirloom tomatoes and fresh nectarines! Heirloom tomatoes are especially hard to come by in the Newark area but you can find them at the UMDNJ farmers market. I also really love including local fruits and veggies into my diet.

When you work full-time, it is very difficult to get to a farmers market on a regular basis. Having one on campus is great. The fruits and vegetables I have purchased there are delicious and reasonably priced. It is a nice break in the middle of my busy day.

Our farmer's market is helping bring fresh, Jersey-grown fruits and vegetables to some who may not be able to venture out to the rural markets. It also helps promote healthier eating habits which could start a positive trend, especially in our area, where preserved garbage seems to always be the first thing available. Taking into consideration the ongoing economic distress of many, if the farmer's market doesn't currently have the capabilities to also serve individuals receiving financial assitance, it should look into making it possible. Farmers market is great for the UMDNJ community. The fruits, vegetables and baked goods are so fresh, tasty and shopping around is easy. We do not have to go out of our way to get fresh goodies. Farmers Market promotes health eating. Fresh food, health food, easy to get to, what more can we ask for.

The Farmers Market gives the employees the opportunity to purchase fresh produce and baked goods that might not be available in particular neighborhoods. It also gives the neighboring community the opportunity to purchase essential and affordable produce which is greatly needed in urban areas.

I support the Uiversity Hospital Auxiliary's Framers Market because there are not a lot of convenient locations in the are that you can purchase fresh fruit and vegetables at reasonable prices. The vegetables I purchased were truly wonderful. What a great thing to do that also includes the community.

We are surrounded by fast food restaurants where people are getting thier basic nutrition and at the same time developing obesity and other chronic conditions as a result of the poor nutrition choices that they have to make. I visited the market for the first time this week and bought the most delicious black cherries! I munched on them the afternoon and by Thursday they were gone. I support this wonderful effort to offer fresh fruits and vegatables to our community friends, employees and students. It is also nice opportunity to discover new foods, share receipes and mix and mingle with folks you frequently talk with on the telephone but very seldom get to see.
