Great variety of high quality foods in a friendly environment and a beautiful setting around the capitol building. This market beats any market I've seen for size and variety.

Madison's Farmers' Market is well known nationally, and for good reason. Variety and top quality--exquisite produce, gorgeous bouquets, excellent cheese, honey, jam, smoked fish. We have friendly vendors and an excellent vibe. Only prob. is that it is SO popular that walking and carrying loads of food around a crowd can be tricky. The effort is totally worth it--Madison can be very proud of this central city market. Vote for Madison, people!

While the setting on the Capitol Square in the summer cannot be beat, this market is wonderful for so many reasons. A year-round, producer-only market ensures the highest quality products and the opportunity to create lasting relationships with the people who produce your food.

Even though I no longer live in Madison, it is FAR IN AWAY the best farmers market I've even been to including some that are currently at the top of the voting list, like Carrboro, NC, that is nice, but can't shake a stick (or tomato) at the DIVERSITY of produce that is ALL LOCAL at the DCFM.

Strict rules. Only farmers are able to sell product, not hired staff, so you are always guaranteed to meet the farmer. Only food is allowed for sale at the market. It truly is a "farmers' market", unlike others that just use the name.
