Pepper Place is where Birmingham comes together -- black, white, young, old, rich, and poor. The produce is always outstanding, and talking to the farmers who grow your food is even more fun.

Wonderful produce, fresh and easy to deal with friendly and informative vendors. Friendly atmosphere, great displays, interesting people. Not your everyday farmer's market, good food, good music, nice folks, friendly atmopshere.

A friend of mine from Florida asked me about my favorite place in Birmingham, and I quickly replied, "Why, the Pepper Place Saturday Market, of course!" I went on to explain that the atmosphere there is so lively and friendly and that buying my produce directly from those who grow it, allows me to feel that I am doing my part to support the local economy and that I am feeding my family well. You can make a morning of the experience, having a leisurely breakfast there, listening to the musicians, and taking in the sights. I eagerly await the opening day of the market each year and am sad to see the end of the season come.

Wonderful, locally produced fresh produce -- inspires you to eat well and support local farmers. Although getting up on a Sturday morning is somewhat difficult, the rewards waiting at Pepper Place make it a no-brainer. Why else would so many of my friends make sure that Pepper Place is part of their Saturday morning throughout the summer?

There is no place I would rather be on Saturday morning than Pepper Place. Where else can you buy the freshest produce from friendly and dedicated Alabama growers, run into everyone from your neighbor to Frank Stitt, listen to local musicians, see dogs in sunglasses, AND eat peach ice cream at 8:00 AM? Pepper Place draws the whole community together in support of the farmers, bakers, musicians, and craftsmen that help make this city the vibrant and magical place it is.

Wow. Where to begin... Pepper Place is more than just a farmer's market. It's a place where the community gathers on a beautiful sunny Saturday to enjoy people, fresh and local produce, listen to musicians on two stages and if you're there early enough: learn from a cooking demonstration done by a local chef using only the best local foods. Alabama farmers take great pride in their goods and as a resident of this community, I feel extremely fortunate to reap the benefits of their outstanding work ethic and delicious fare.
