The food is fresh and one can know the "face of their food"! The local economy is certainly enhanced by those who purchase products from other local individuals who grow, and produce healthy fresh food! Community is becoming lost in our fast paced techno-society, and it does not need to be that way.....the farmer's market is a step towards stronger community.

Vendors are sincere. I trust the quality of the products. As a matter of fact, this is the only market I have shopped across North America in the last 49 years that I trust the honesty of every vendor and each product to be clean and fair! The vendors are attentive to customer's individual interests. Sometimes special orders can be placed and brought next market. Feedback is often sought and responded to. It is a true local market offering local harvests (not shipped) and local vendors ask for feedback so visitors and local folks get what they want, when, and how they need it. Come on and visit! you'll see !!

I've been to a couple different farmer's markets, but this one is by far the best! They've got Joan's Breads (the tastiest), Bald Guy's coffee (so good), breakfast foods and other goodies from Faith Mountain Farm (delicious), a huge assortment of fruits and vegetables and flowers grown by the nicest people, and so much more! I also love the small town, friendly attitude every to have. It's the best way to start a Saturday!

It's one of the most treasured parts of our family's week, going to the market. We eat well and fresh on the things we buy, we see many friends, we hear good music from local musicians, and our kids play in the woods and among the historic cabins in the Homestead next door.

The market is a great alternative for great food in the area, and I enjoy supporting local foods. It's also a great place to meet and greet people in the community, which is not always easy as a college student at ASU. I feel more involved in the "mountain life" when I can come and discuss things with people at the market. There is no better way to spend a Saturday morning than discussing fruits, veggies, crafts etc. with elders in your community!

I think all farmers markets world wide should be strongly supported! That you can come there in the morning and get your coffee, breakfast and buy fresh groceries for dinner, at the same time as you meet your friends and other friendly people from your community willing to help, is great. Local food is important, and it is good that they get the opportunity to sell their products.

Wide variety of very fresh and tasty veggies and fruits. Baked and canned goods, hand made crafts and best of all is you know it was either grown or created by the person standing directly in front of you. I love this place as the familiar smells and sounds takes me back to an earlier time in my life when Mom and Dad took me to the market.

Local food, flowers, and friends are enjoyed at this market. I go for the colors, music, and crafts, as well. I usually, stand behind the performers and sketch them, as well as, onlookers and passersby. I attract a little attention and admiration of my quick sketches. I soak up the smells of things to eat, soaps and flowers. It is a market, for all the senses, which delights me each Saturday with an anticipation that is always rewarded both visually and physically. It is the best of markets I have experienced from here to England, France, Germany and Italy.

I have never seen a better Farmer's Market. It is clean, well-organized, has a tremendous variety of produce, flowers and plants, food, art, crafts and entertainment. All of the vendors are friendly, knowledgeable and talented. The location is centrally located for tourist and locals. The atmosphere is delightful and I am always satisfied and happy when I finally force myself to leave this wonderful community gathering.

The Watauga Farmer's Market has grown so much over the years and is now the place to be for our whole community. It is a vibrant and wonderful hub on Saturday mornings and I smile the whole time I am there. I am also able to stock up on foods for the whole week and am now purchasing larger quantities of local food to can and freeze for the winter. I would love to see our market receive this money so that they can continue to offer this great resource!

Our farmers' market not only provides a wide variety of fresh produce and crafts, but it also introduces us to local farmers, musicians, and those who enjoy community! It is a place where we can meet our local farmers and learn how, and where our food is produced, It also helps the environment by making our carbon footprint just a bit smaller (no long distance trucking of produce). We live in a tourist area, as well as a university town, and the farmers market is a place where we can all gather and enjoy the ambiance of our town.

Boone is a mountain community and we are all stunned with the scents and sights of the bounty which is produced in its valleys, along its streams and rivers by our farming families. I know that this market is the place to be on Saturday mornings just due to the sheer excitement that emanates from my three year old daughter every time we pull up to the parking lot. She starts bouncing up and down in her car seat going "Farmers Market! Daddy, the Farmers Market!" And who can blame her? With delicious fresh cinnamon buns, an assortment of freshly squeezed juices, and live music what child (and adult for that matter) wouldn't get excited?

It is an educational experience. I have tried a variety of new foods and recipes. There is a strong sense of community at the WCFM; it provides an opportunity for social interaction. The variety and talent of many vendors provides a unique gallery like experience. There is the sound of music, the fragrance of fresh coffee and an assortment of artisans to enjoy. It is a wholesome way to begin a Saturday morning.

The Watauga County Farmer's market is for everyone. Although we live in a modern world, we can still find local farmers who labor to provide their community with fresh produce Delicious, healthy, local food for a community to thrive on, and support for farmers to continue growing and keeping us fed. I would much rather buy our goods locally from people who care about their community, then from someone in a foreign country miles and miles away. The Farmer's Market is a novelty. It's community. Boone would not thrive without it.

Saturdays at the Watauga Farmers' Market is a social event that the locals as well as out-of-town people love to attend. They have live entertainment as well, which really makes this Farmer's Market a very special event every week. My husband and I have been attending this Farmer's Market for the past five years and it is the highlight of our week. Visiting the Watauga County Farmer's Market is a quality of life decision for my husband and me. The spirit of the place is unbelievable. We visit as early as possible, as often as possible and we've never been disappointed with a single item we've brought home. We're addicted to the granola, scones, lemon zest goat cheese and homemade ravioli. The sausage biscuits and sourdough fruit pies are our favorite breakfasts. This Farmer's Market is good for us physically, mentally and spiritually. The Watauga County Farmer's Market and the Blue Ridge Parkway are our two favorite things about living in the mountains.

It's a great way to support local farmers while making the healthiest eating decisions for our family! My two-year old waked up every Saturday demanding to go to the "farmin' place!"

It is the best Farmers' Market in the High Country of North Carolina! It has a diversity of products that I have not found in any other market that I have visited.

I love going there and being able to find fresh fruit as well as the jams and jellies made locally. I can usually pick up some kind of craftwork toy for my children, also.

The WCFM has an amazing diversity of local growers - I can truly do my whole week's grocery shopping there (well, except for beer & wine): wonderful pasture-raised meats, succulent fresh fruits, and the finest vegetables around!

I believe local food endeavors and successes are the solution to our national health and economic ills. IT PROMOTES COMMUNITY and caring for the environment and everyone involved in the production of food.

Because it features lots of local produce and crafts and is not only a great source for local foods, but also serves as a gathering place for the community and a promoter of the slow food movement!

It is amazing to see the variety and reasonable prices available at the farmers' market, and I know I'll run into several people I know when I'm there. It's so exciting to see its growth over the past few years as folks start to realize that fresh, local food is so much better!

it is the basically the town square of this community where people gather for food, music, political discussion, or just to be together with folks they don't see otherwise.

Even though this is a small town market, it really tries to stay on the cutting edge. They have lots of variety, they have a booth that sells raw foods, one that sells fresh pastas and one that will make you a shot of wheat grass, not to mention all the lovely fresh produce and grass-fed, free range meats and much more.

I think the Boone farmers market deserves the 5000 dollers because we need to get better bathrooms. People are (not kidding) afraid to go in. It's a great place for people to hang out and buy fresh better food. It would probibly have more people if they were not afraid of contracting rabies or what ever. Please save our bathrooms!!!

The WCFM provides a sense of community in a season when the locals are often scattered. The selection is very diverse (lots of artisan breads and pottery), and many farmers grow pesticide-free. The musicians add to the local experience, even providing an incentive for late sleepers to rub the fairy dust out of their eyes and head to the market.

The Watauga farmers market is more than a place to buy local food from vendors you know and trust, it is a social event of sorts. I enjoy going even when I don't need anything because it is just so much fun!

The WCFM is a great market, not only do we have almost entirely locally grown produce available, there is often music and other entertainment. It provides a wonderful sense of community in Boone for many sectors of our population: native western Carolinians, students, tourists, and members of the international community who call Boone home.

It's an experience just being there each week. The vendors are all very friendly, and you see most of your friends there either as vendors or shoppers. I love the grass-fed beef, eggs from free-range hens, and the goat cheese.

The vendors are our friends and neighbors, so we know who is producing the food we eat. We want to help them make a living also. Everything is so fresh and really looks inviting. Have to go really early to be sure to get everything you want because so many people are there buying the goodies. Also there is a tremendous variety at this market and the they sell the best plants you could possibly want.
