Our local farm market runs from mid-June through October here in northeastern Wisconsin. I eagerly look forward to it with great anticipation every year! For me, the first farmer's market means the beginning of summer and brings with it the promise of warm weather and long sunny days. I have been to many farm markets over the years, and I have to say, Appleton does an outstanding job! There is such a variety to be found here. You can find many unique items like gourmet cheeses (from Wisconsin of course!), handcrafted woodwork, pottery, glassware, Amish baked goods and the best natural soap around! The market also has many excellent organic vegetable farmers that sell unique heirloom variety plants that I have never seen anywhere else.
Another amazing attribute of the market is the entertainment. We have musicians playing Chicago-style blues, folk, classical violins and everything in between. You can also find demonstraions by local organizations. My favorite was the performance by the only pre-professional ballet company in Appleton. The kids were amazing!
