We have many Farmer's Markets within a 50 mile radius and although we are a small market, we have the honor of being the only Farmer's Market in Florida that has an EBT program where Food Stamp recipients can swipe their card for tokens and spend some of their Food Stamp allowance on fresh fruits, vegetables and other food stuffs.
Our Market is also innovative, in that it has the Main Street program sponsoring a High Springs Community Information Booth each week, where shoppers and visitors at the Market can obtain information on the not for profit groups in the area including info on their benefits and activies.
While our location is beautiful and serene, it is a little off the main path of High Springs and we are constantly seeking ways to make the Market more visible to the passing public, including floating vegetable shaped balloons and having individuals dress as farmers and stand on street corners to promote the market.
Our most recent innovation was to change our Market hours to accomodate the working people in our community who could not make it to the Market during regular hours. We have extended our hours to 7:00 PM and have had a wonderful response to this provision.
The Farmer's Market is vital to our community and the Market volunteers work very hard to keep it thriving.
