Market Square Farmer's Market has grown so much in the past few years. Living in a region that has a 10 month growing season, it's great to see the market doing so well! The market has a variety of craft booths as well as veggie stands and happy meat, it's the best way to start the weekend. They also now accept EBT (foodstamps).

I love going to the Farmer's Market. Market Square harkens back to the days when down town was a vital part of the city. During the Seventies and Eighties, I remember seeing downtown die, with grocery and department stores closing down, leaving behind empty buildings and a feeling of despair. Market Square brings a sense of life back to down town. It also makes a wonderful pre-game stop on UT Saturdays!

All have a enjoyed themselves and are impressed with what Knoxville has going on in their downtown. Having lived in downtown Chicago for many years, I am also extremely impressed with downtown Knoxville, the Market Square Farmers Market, and what Knoxville is doing for the local farmers, crafters, and local culture. I have a friend flying in from Tampa next weekend, and I will be bringing her to the Market Square Farmers Market as well. Great job Knoxville!

Knoxville's Farmer's Market is a fantastic community event that promotes local businesses and individuals! It is my favorite Knoxville event. I often ride my bike or walk downtown to purchase my week's fresh produce from the outdoor market. As I shop and peruse the various booths, i always run into friends and neighbors. After working on Market Square for over three years, I have watched our market grow from a few faithful vendors to a bustling market of craftsmen, farmers, and artists! Knoxville's Farmer's Market is a wonderful event that deserves to be recognized for all that it has done for this city i call home.

They have something for everyone - young and old alike. From entertainment and kid's face painting and butterfly catching to fresh fruits and vegetables and organic as well. The hand made jewelry, art, soaps and great baked goods are fabulous. And bringing the kids is very encouraged and being located adjacent to the water fountains provides a great end of shopping experience to watch your children and others run through the water pad. I look forward to every Wednesday during the work week and Saturdays are often spent with visits to the city first thing. There are many folks who ride the bike trails to the Farmers' Market and enjoy taking a break to shop and eat before heading back on the trail. Knoxville is an incredible city and it's the people who live and work here who have truly gained the credit for making it what it is today. Go Knoxville!

Historically Market Square has always provided a public place for local farmers and craftsmen to sell their goods. The site was originally donated to the City of Knoxville by Joseph Alexander Mabry and his brother-in-law William G. Swan for the purpose of constructing a Market House. The Market House was razed many years ago but Market Square still exists and should continue being used as a public market place. These men gave this land with the understanding that it should remain a public market place for the citizens of Knoxville now and forever. I think it is important to keep that commitment and continue the legacy left us by two of Knoxvilles founding fathers. It pleases me to know that since the 1800's we have managed to keep this historic site available for local farmers to display and sell their goods. Let's hold onto the history and purpose of this wonderful site with both hands.....we have lost far too much already.

This farmer's market has grown steadily since 2005. When I first moved here in 2003, I was dismayed at the fact that there was no market. Now, I take my friends there when they visit. It's a wonderful place full of food, arts and crafts and music. I love it!

There is an incredible variety of different veggies and organic foods. Excellent people who are helpful and full of cheer. When I am feeling down, a stroll through this farmers market is guaranteed to lift my spirits. I wish it was open everyday. I've visited Farmer's Markets in several cities (Berkeley, CA, Atlanta, GA, just to name drop a few) but this is my favorite so far. No one does it like Market Square's Farmer's Market.
