The Farmers Market is one of the few opportunities local farmers have to offer their produce to the public. The food is fresher, is grown locally, and cuts pollution by not being transported from across the country. This helps our local economy, and the fresher foods are beneficial to our health.

Columbus, GA is nestled right on the banks of the Chattahoochie River below the Fall Line and shares it's banks with the sister city of Phenix City, AL and Fort Benning Army Base (the largest infantry base in the world). We are a tri-city area and our Farmer's Market has been around since right after the Civil War. Only a few hundred feet from the Market is the original place where steamships docked and unloaded their goods for the city from down river. Our Farmer's Market has a rich history from the times of Native Americans through the Civil War to the present. The Market sells a wide variety of produce, antiques, and local fare such as peanuts, watermelons, cider, and peaches!!!!! Winning this contest would help the Market with it's face lift to keep up with the city's progress. Right across the street from the Market on the river banks is our New Cival War Naval Museum where we have a replica of a steamship built to scale out front!!!! Thanks for considering us.
