I support Downtown Hickory Farmers' Market in Hickory, NC because they are the best. I do not get up there often enough but when I go I make the most of my visit. I can find most anything I want/need there. A great shopping experience.

It is so important, in today's world of chemically treated foods grown in nutrient deficient soils, that we have the opportunity to purchase locally grown, often organic, produce that the farmers' market provides.
The local farmers - both of produce and animal products- are informative and friendly. Their products are fresh and great tasting. The flowers and baked goods are also reason to get there. My kids love "picking" the veggies and that is near choo-choo tracks. Entertaining for the entire family.

I support the market because it is so communal. It provides my family with local fresh, SEASONAL fruits, vegetables, fresh cheese and locally raised beef and pork. Any cook knows it is the product that makes a delicious dish. The market is a true connection with the community with it's fresh flowers, hand made soaps, and an array of foods, local and organic, grown by people who follow their passion. I get such pleasure buying local food despite the work that is always ahead of me after the market- the preparation of the meal.
Fresh food, good company and I can order online if needed. I love the convenience and can always find a parking place! Also a great place to ask questions about my own growing problems or just talk with vendors about farming..everyone is so helpful and informative. A great place to hear a child laughing too!

I love the variety of LOCALLY grown fruits and vegetables, fresh breads and cheeses, meats, eggs, and beautiful flowers. Each year the market HAS expanded its offerings and its programming. And I am pleased to see more farmers offering organically grown produce. I love it!
I can order the produce in advance and pick it up on Wednesday, knowing that I do not have to be there at the stroke of 12 noon to get the veggies, etc. that I want. There is such a big variety, and I am always willing to try something new!! Then I mix in a little nostalgia, as I have fond memories of my husband and grandchildren selling our homegrown vegetables at the farmers' market when we lived in Virginia!!
I love being able to purchase local produce, rather than fruits and vegetables that were grown in South America and have been on a truck for a week! It has been really nice having the vendors display information about where and how the items were grown. I like knowing whether or not pesticides were used.
It's a wonderful place to go on Wednesday and Saturday to buy whatever produce I need. I can also find produce that is sometimes difficult to find, such as October beans. It also has a good variety of other sellers such as baked goods, soaps, and canned items. There is a lot of parking in the area so it is easily accessed. Everyone is friendly that sells.

The booths are all set up attractively and conveniently, and the products are SO fresh and delicious! It is also dog friendly. I only miss it when I am out of town. Wonderful.

Hickory has a real farmers market, I live in Conover and if they think this a farmers market in Conover they need to come to Hickory. Conover has a flea market and they say local ,125 mile radius 4 states ,The one in Conover is a joke and if the tax payers knew they were paying 15,000 a year for a flea market they wouls SH-- in there pants

It is local community based. I find that the farmers market is a very social way to get my marketing done. It is outside in fresh air. I get to see my neighbors that I may otherwise not see. All in all, it lends itself to providing the convivial way of life that I want to live.

I have been to The Asheville Farmer's Market and the Hickory Market and the Hickory Market is much larger, better organized, and has more organic produce.

Our market is such a fun place to be, with a variety of foods, flowers and herbs. My husband and I enjoy riding our bicycles to the market and buying just enough to fit into our panniers -- sometimes they are quite full! We think that buying local is healthy for our bodies and for the economy!

This is a fun and beneficial trip for my husband and me. The Market is located so that we can have lunch on the town square and do any necessary shopping at the fun stores before loading our car. I see local friends and meet new people as I shop among the vendors. My husband and I buy different items. The food and baked goods are delicious. If I need a gift, there are fantastic plants and flowers. I even bought my herbs there this year. They add alot of flavor to the produce when we get to our kitchen. The fun begins when we bring everything home and decide which foods to group for meals. We always have to buy extra okra or squash because the family gathers around as we cook it and it disappears from the plate before the rest of the meal is prepared.

I have always enjoyed the produce that all of the vendors bring. The prices are very good, and the vendors are all wonderful people. They are very knowledgeable on different was to prepare the fruits/veggie they have for sale. The vendors who have fresh herbs and plants try to help you with how to use them or how to plant the plants they have for sale. Wonderful group of people.

when i moved here many years ago i was really disappointed that there was not a place to by locally grown produce, as i was used to an area with may farm stands scattered throughout. the hickory farmer' market has made it so very convenient to do just that. it's big enough for a wonderful variety of items but small enough so as not to be overwhelming. i hope it continues for many years to come.

I love shopping at the Hickory Farmer's Market. It is convenient; the vegetables are as fresh as those in my garden and more varied. It is local. It brings people downtown which is good for our economy. It is my 89 year old mother-in-law's favorite weekly adventure. It is a multicultural experience with wonderful flowers from the gardens of our Hmong neighbors; empanadas from our Latino neighbors; fried pies, homemade soaps and amazing fresh goat cheese. Totally the essence of Hickory, NC.

My family enjoys fresh home grown vegetables. The farmer's market also brings people to the downtown area and that helps the local coffee shops, restaurants and other businesses in that area. Our town has been hit hard by the downturn in the furniture and textile business. Downtown is a hopeful spot for growth and renewal.
Enjoy walking around to see all the locally grown flowers & vegetables. Very relaxing. Truly enjoy the good fresh veggies, too. Lots of friendly faces.

Nothing taste better than local produce and the lower cost for the items. Best yet you sure make alot of friends there. And don't forget the beautiful flowers and ice cream also some canned goods too.

They offer a huge variety of fresh produce at a good price.
It is lively with a great variety of healthy choices of products, plants, homemade foods and unique gifts. It is a learning experience with the Community Booth offered free to clubs to expose the city to information. It is fun with different music groups, chefs, and various food contests(thanks to our great market manager!). My husband is terminally ill and I feel that we get the most healthy foods available at our Hickory Farmers' Market.

Everyone wears a smile at the Downtown Hickory Farmers' Market as I think people are happy to get fresh food and see their neighbors. In addition, the Downtown Hickory Farmers' Market has special events going on each week and a non-profit group is featured at the market each week which helps us all learn about different organizations in our three-time All-America City.

Not being able to have a garden, it is just a thrill to go to Market & pick up locally grown vegetables. The fellowhsip is so interesting with the different mix of people. Not only do you have a chance to buy produce but the mix of potted plants, cut flowers, orchids, baked goods, jellies, breads, soaps, organic foods & so many other things. Our farmers are to be praised for taking their Saturdays & Wednesdays to furnish us with all these special treats. Hope they will continue & it will be profitable for them in return.

I love DHFM primarily because it has AWESOME fresh, local food. Plus it's fun and cute with its multi-colored tents and flowers and hot dog vendor and I see all my friends and neighbors there.
I am the former market manager of the Downtown Hickory Farmers Market. I still support some of the vendors even from my new remote location of Birmingham, Alabama. The vendors are like family to me. I love and miss them. They helped feed my oldest son (now 4) from the time he could eat solid foods. Hickory has a gem of a farmers market. It may not be the largest or have the widest variety, but it offers a true sense of community to a quaint little town.
It is the perfect way to support our local farmers and receive fresh fruits and veggies.

I love the Hickory Farmers Market! I shop the Farmer's Market every Wednesday to get my weekly supply of fresh vegetables, fruits and breads. They also have a wonderful variety of plants and hard to find herbs. My herb garden is full of plants I've purchased there!
It's wonderful to be able to teach my children about produce directly from the grower...not the grocery store!

The Downtown Hickory Farmers' Market has the greatest and friendliest vendors and the greatest fresh produce, food and beautiful crafts. The Market works hard to support our community and has become an invaluable addition to our area.
I can spend $10 at the farmers' market and feed my family of four for one meal and still have makings for another meal. I can't do that from a grocer. In addition, the money stays local and that's important for all of us.
WOnderful local food PLUS it is a great community gathering place. You always run into friends there and it's just a happy, positive place.
Place to meet friends, grandchildren enjoy going and learning about growing foods, fresh produce is available, love the soap products.

They have wonderful items, and a lot of variety-soap, herbs, plants, and most importantly, vegetables! Plus I can walk to it. I've been every day they are open except one;even went in the rain.
