Tell Wisconsin to Protect Public Employees Union Rights

Public Employee Unions in Wisconsin could lose the right to negotiate on things like affordable health care if Governor Scott Walker has his way.

This week, Wisconsin's new Republican governor will ask the Republican-controlled legislature to pass his "budget repair bill", which would make unions unable to negotiate on behalf of workers, taking away their say in issues such as working conditions and health care. State workers will also have to increase the percentage of salary that they contribute to their pensions and double the percentage of contribution to health insurance premiums.

Many public employees rely on unions to help them negotiate for safe working conditions, reasonable working hours and health and retirement benefits. If unions are stripped of their ability to negotiate, workers are left to the mercy of a state that is more concerned budgets than the welfare of its workers.

Tell Governor Walker that unions have the right to negotiate on behalf of public employees.
I believe that public employees have a right to the protection that union negotiations provide. Denying them that right is not the way to cut state spending.

I urge you to reconsider destroying the ability of unions to negotiate issues other than wages on behalf of public employees.
